Social isolation affects one in 10 Australians and one in 6 experience periods of emotional loneliness. Loneliness is linked to increased risk of health issues and chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, depression, dementia and higher levels of inflammatory responses.
The issue is now so serious that a Loneliness Thought Leadership Roundtable Report Roadmap by the Consumers Health Forum of Australia for addressing loneliness in Australia was published in January 2021 to establish effective strategies to address the social isolation and loneliness of Australians.
Evidence-based Relaxation Therapy is an effective coping skill that reduces the effects of chronic conditions worsened by loneliness. For online classes and more information, please visit artandscienceofrelaxation.com
