We’d just like to say a big thank you to everyone who turned up on the night to support Market Rock.
400 hundred people attended the event and together we raised just under $35,000 which will provide 700 music therapy sessions for children undergoing treatment for cancer at the Westmead Children’s Hospital. What an incredible result! Your generous support has allowed us to continue funding the fantastic work that the music therapists do.
We would like to acknowledge our co-sponsors and contributors- ANZ, NAB, the treasury staff of Westpac, Bell Potter, Patrick Notaras, Eden Travel, Snap Printing on Castlereagh, IPC, The Basement and Pistol Clothing.
I thought all the market bands were outstanding and we were lucky to have another superb performance by Guy Sebastian. It was an even greater surprise when he launched the release of his new single ‘Candle’ at Market Rock , which is definitely a first. His single can be downloaded on iTunes
To all those who dug into their pockets and contributed you have made a real difference in the lives to these kids who are going through some pretty tough times. We also wanted to share this special message from our friends at the Children’s Hospital:

Undergoing treatment for Cancer can be painful and stressful for the children and their families. They are often removed from their schools and homes for long periods of time. Even when at home they are restricted from everyday life and being around other people. Music can provide an wonderful opportunity to express feelings and engage in fun activities while still on treatment. Music Therapy at the hospital can bring children and families together sharing in positive experiences. It can also bring comfort and peace during the most difficult moments.
Without your support this would not be possible. Congratulations and thank you for being part of another very successful Market Rock.

(ABN: 24 799 057 811) is a non for profit organisation established as a vehicle to facilitate funding of the music therapy program at the oncology ward of the Children’s Hospital at Westmead by financial market firms and individuals. The Market Rock event has been going for 16 years and has raised approx. 1 million dollars to support this program.
