Thus skilling action is to first bring the activity to niland from there start to act. It is like drawing the arrow back on the bow before we wish to shoot ahead. The skill lies in pulling the arrow back on the bow as far as possible until it reaches the state of no activity. From that point, the arrow can be shot by just releasing the catch, without effort. So this skill in action is only a matter of pulling the arrow back and then releasing it. It will, with the least amount of effort, naturally shoot ahead with the maximum force.
Likewise, by utilising the skill of bringing the activity of the mind to a state of stillness and from that point starting the activity. The energy necessary to perform the action will be least. The action will be performed for the greatest results. And the doer will cultivate a state of eternal freedom. The doer will act established in eternal Being and therefore will not be under the binding influence of action. This is true skill in action.

Friendship and difficulties when heart is restricted:

“So this ‘fish’ (referring to ‘selfishness’) is a small something. What is that friendship today? Say how are you doing? Hello, hello. The voice is not full and the heart is not full and the pressure of suspicions and pressure of limitations all is - one doesn't open oneself. When one is not open to oneself, when one's awareness is not open to that unboundedness one has not the ability to open to something else. Because when one is within boundaries then one is limited and in limitations the desire to give will never be fulfilled.

Because deep within oneself one is unbound, unlimited, even if one is not aware of that unbounded status. But that is the reality of life. Deep within, even if one is not aware, but that is the reality of the life - deep within and therefore one would never be satisfied in the field of giving if one is not embedded in that unboundedness.

And when this awareness, open to infinite value meets with this another awareness open to infinite value, then the friendship is unrestricted. Relationship knows no boundaries and then it's the swelling of hearts in fullness.

The difficulty comes when this heart is restricted and this heart is restricted and this doesn't open full because it hasn't gained that unbounded awareness. So this doesn't open full because it has not gained unbounded awareness - and in restrictions not much fun of life.”

Our attitude has its basis on the level of our consciousness

Maharishiji: “The thing is, even our attitude has its basis on the level of our consciousness. Our level of consciousness, our level of consciousness is the basis of our attitudes towards this, towards this, towards this. So as the level of consciousness grows, attitudes do become friendly, attitudes do become friendly. Otherwise, what may happen is if the attitude of loving behavior is not natural then in an unnatural way if we cause loving behavior, firstly it can't be posed secondly if we try to pose soon after that posing, we'll feel strained.”

Question: “Is this not also alright in so far as our attitude to our fellow man - so as we are so shall the world be to us?”

Maharishiji: “Right, and in order to be better in our attitude, the technique is TM (Transcendental Meditation). Otherwise, I know of a very beautiful lady wanting so much to do good everywhere and in her society she was taken to be most lively, most inspiring and happy lady but when she met me she said everyone in my society hangs on me because they know I have very good vibrations. I have very happy attitude to life, very happy, but after 2 hours of evening when I come home till next day noon I feel so much depressed.

And I said do you know why it is? She said yes I know because when in the evenings I I go or meet my friends, I try to be happy, I try to talk to them lovingly, I try to make them happy, all happy so - and this trying she said I feel so exhausted by the time I come home because of this trying. Very sincere lady but this was the situation inside.

I said no, you'll start meditation and then naturally more happiness will come out without straining or without trying. It’ll be in spontaneous feature then.”

Find out how this super model, and mother can meditate everyday:

Vogue: And how did picking up the technique of Transcendental Meditation change your practice?

Gisele: Well, it’s only 20 minutes two times a day, and I thought, “I’ve been doing an hour a day, so I like that!”

Vogue: More efficient!

Gisele: Exactly!

Vogue: What is it that you like about meditation?

Gisele: People have been practicing meditation for thousands of years and the reason is because it’s really a wonderful tool to grant you a different access to yourself. It’s a different awareness and new level of peace. Once you learn how to do it, it’s yours forever—you can always access that. It’s an energy inside of you. It’s not something you can lose that’s outside of yourself. It’s not physical; it’s something much deeper than that. The more you practice and the more you reach it, the more amazing it becomes.

Vogue: Where do you meditate?

Gisele: The thing about meditation is that you can do it anywhere. And I’ve done it everywhere. On planes, the back of a taxi, sitting in hair and makeup—because of my job, sometimes you’re doing makeup for hours and hours and hours—in my bed in the morning, in nature, anywhere. All you need is 20 minutes. Even with a schedule like mine, I can find 20 minutes. For me, I love to do it early in the morning before the kids are up. The energy is very calm.

Vogue: Has meditation helped you as a parent?

Gisele: Well, I like to do it in the mornings because the energy is very calm. It’s dark; I like to put a candle on. For me, it’s a ritual. The way I see it is that you have to put the oxygen mask on yourself first before you can put the oxygen mask on the people around you. If I nourish myself in the morning, when the house energy starts revving up, you have so much more to give. As a mother, you’re always giving. It’s important to give something to yourself, so you can give from a place of being full, instead of giving from a place of being depleted, which isn’t healthy for you or for the family. If I don’t do it in the morning, it’s a very different energy—the dogs are barking, the kids are saying they are hungry, it’s so chaotic, there’s this and that . . . when I wake up just 30 minutes before everyone else, it makes a world of a difference. It pays off.

A different kind of Mother’s Day gift

A while ago, a mother came to learn Transcendental Meditation®️ with us.

It wasn’t something she had planned for herself.
Her son had organised it as a surprise birthday gift.

What stayed with me was this:
she had actually been thinking about learning for a long time…
but somehow, life always came first.

Family, responsibilities, everything else.

When she received the gift, she was so happy.

And when she reached out to arrange her course,
there was also a quiet sense of pride:
that she was finally doing something for herself.

She went through the course,
and her smile at the end said everything.

It made me realise:
sometimes the most meaningful gifts are not things,
but the space to rest, to reconnect, to return to oneself.

With Mother’s Day coming up,
a few people have been asking about this kind of gift.
If it’s something you’ve been considering for your mum,
or even for yourself

Text 0424 450 578 or email us to find what we have prepared for you as a gift for mothers this Mother's Day, to learn TM or to refresh what they have learned.

What does Maharishi and Damasio have in common?

Maharishi on Decision Making and Emotions:

“Intellectual thought means decisive thought and in decisions emotions are deeply involved. When you decide, it’s the force of decision takes in emotion, it’s very deeply.

Decision is never free from the grip of emotion. Decision is very-it’s just, it’s guided by emotion. Decision is guided by emotion.

Apparently, it may appear that they are guided by logic, but logic is always in favor of emotions, always one, one, one, one steps so many steps, but there is the cup of tea.

People say, ‘He’s not my cup of tea.’ This is, more prevalent in England, in more conservative expressions so that cup of tea is very, very important. It’s all localized in emotions.

‘Not my cup of tea.’

Decisions are motivated by emotions, and they are so involved with one another, that’s why when one transcends and the whole mechanics of TM involves the whole value of life, everything involves, and because it involves everything, it develops everything, it enriches every aspect of life. That’s why we say, the holistic value of life is gained through TM-holistic value. Simultaneous development of all aspects of personality, all aspects of simultaneous development of body, mind and soul. If we want to use this expression. Otherwise, every aspect of life blossoms in fullness, it becomes enriched in every way. Emotions are a very fine aspect of life.”

From Maharishi Mahesh Yogi 11th December 1971.

Have you ever read the book by Antonio Damasio " Descartes’ Error: Emotion, Reason, and the Human Brain" published in 1994?"; which he showed, through evidence, that when emotional capacity is impaired, the rational decision making also deteriorate,
