Hi my name is Michele a local mum and a qualified Clinical Hand, Face & Foot Reflexologist, Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage and Baby Reflex Practitioner

What is clinical reflexology?

Clinical reflexology is a non-invasive complementary therapy, which works alongside conventional medical care to helping the body to re-balance and begin its own healing process. Clinical reflexology works on the principle that different areas of the feet, hands and ears, correspond to all the different areas of the body, including the internal organs and glands. It is a holistic therapy, which aims to bring balance to the whole body and mind.

How does clinical reflexology work?

By applying precise pressure, to these specific areas and points using the thumbs and fingers, a trained clinical reflexologist can help to identify areas of imbalance and create a bespoke treatment plan, tailored to the individual needs of the client. Pressure applied in a specific way, can help stimulate the nerves and blood flow to the corresponding area of the body and help to stimulate the body’s own healing processes, helping bring balance to the affected area of the body.

Who could benefit from clinical reflexology?

The deep relaxation and improved sense of wellbeing can benefit anyone, but may be particularly beneficial to people who suffer from the many emotional, psychological and physical effects stress can cause such as:

Affects on mood/Sleep disorders/Digestive problems such as IBS or constipation/Headaches and Migraines/Muscular tension such as back, shoulder and neck pain/Hormonal imbalances e.g PMS, endometriosis, painful or heavy periods/Fertility problems

What to expect from your treatment

Initial Treatment - At the first session a comprehensive medical and lifestyle questionnaire will be completed and the health and wellbeing goals the client wants reflexology to help them achieve will be discussed. A full investigatory reflexology treatment will then be given, where any areas of imbalance can be noted. An initial session can take up to 90 minutes.

From the finding of the first treatment and assessment, a bespoke treatment plan will be created to meet the individual needs of the client for follow up treatments. The treatment plan will be continually assessed and amended to ensure it still meet the client’s needs. Depending on what you are having reflexology for, it might be recommended for you to come more regularly to begin with, but your reflexologist will discuss this with you.

Follow up Treatment

Follow up sessions last 60 minutes. The session involves an initial discussion to see how the client has been since the last treatment and based on this, make any amendment the treatment plan if needed. A bespoke treatment is then given to best meet the client’s health goals.
