Everyone has a different way of responding to their lockdown experience. I have been talking to my clients of all ages about the 5 C’s.

1. Connect- call or video with friends and family.
2. Create- bake, draw, make, get creative
3. Cardio- move, get active, preferably in nature.
4. Compassion- for yourself and others. We are all in a bit of a funk, so do something kind and nurturing for yourself or someone else.
5. Challenge- try something new, do something you have wanted to do but never found the time, do something that feels a little bit difficult.

Practicing the 5 C’s will fire up neuro transmitters and produce hormones that will help you get through your lockdown experience.

I like to think of them as ‘Miss-takes’.
Sometimes you get to have another go at it.
If it’s something you have said or done that hurts another you can make a correction by taking what you have learnt and growing from the experience. Make a repair. Have another go. Be kind to yourself and others in the space of your mistake.

When should you practice acceptance and when should you push for change?
A common theme to be unpacked in therapy.
How do we identify that whilst our behaviors are helping us to ‘feel better’ and more comfortable we are still also stuck in the same position.

What is your sleep story? What will be the sleep story of your children? They don’t have to be the same. Invite Louise from Embrace Parenting into your village to begin the next chapter of your sleep story.

We adults all want more of it. We know we need it. How do we get it?  Babies and children need lots of sleep. So many of the parents I see have similar concerns.  Is my baby sleeping too much? Why won’t my baby go to sleep? Why won’t my baby stay asleep?  The story t

In case you were wondering 😁

The work psychologists do is incredibly varied and the list is endless. You might find psychologists helping to formulate a campaign to influence Australians to give up smoking, designing a new test to detect mental health issues early, or developing an app to help people beat anxiety.

Need this at the moment ❤️

One time, while riding bikes with my daughter, she suddenly slowed down right in front of me. I had a choice: I could either run into her and knock her down, or I could take the fall.

I took the fall,
Landing hard on my right side.

My daughter ran to my aid, and I fought back tears. My right hand and knee burned from the slap of the pavement and my rib felt punctured … but she was ok. She was ok. I’d take the fall for her any day.

Today, I noticed the scar on my knee from that incident three years ago, and I was reminded of a few significant truths…

Even on days when I can’t tear myself away from my distractions …

Even on days when I am irritated over trivial things …

Even on days that I obsess over bulges and wrinkles and things that don’t matter one bit in the end …

Even on days when I want to go inside my closet and cry …

Even on days when I fall short, I am still that person who would sacrifice her knees… her pride… her comfort… for the people she loves.

Perhaps you know someone who would make the same sacrifice; I bet you do.

So, when you see that imperfect human being staring back at you in the mirror, I ask that you extend grace rather than judgment.

You are not the sum of your distractions.

You are not comprised of your flaws and failings.

You’re made of love that is always ready, willing, and able
To take the fall
And tend to the bruises with compassion and care.

Let that truth fuel forward today.

We often feel like we are doing a terrible job of this parenting gig. Meet them where they are at, more often than not. That is good enough parenting.

Shout out to parents and caregivers at home, multitasking, working, home schooling, balancing it all. AND now managing the staggered return to school! You are amazing.
