It’s smaller and familiar. Plus, it doesn’t feel intimidating.

People get greeted when they arrive. They’re shown what to do so they’re not left guessing, and there’s always someone around if they need a hand.

The members around them?
They’re not what most people expect in a gym.

They’re everyday people who are friendly, have different ages and abilities.
They are people showing up to feel better in themselves.

No one is trying to standout and no one is trying to impress anyone.

Some are moving comfortably. Some are working on things at their own pace, some are getting instruction off a trainer and some are just getting back into it after a break.

Before long, it doesn’t feel unfamiliar anymore… it just feels like it is so normal to be here.

RDLs shouldn’t feel like a lower back exercise.

If you’re falling forward or reaching for the floor, chances are your back is doing more work than it should.

Think about it like this:
"Push the door back" with your glutes on the way down.
Then “shave your legs” on the way up to keep the weight close.

Suddenly, it changes.

You feel your glutes switch on.
You feel more in control.
And your lower back isn’t taking over.

It’s not about going lower.
It’s about moving correctly.

You’re mid session and you look over to check how someone else is doing it. You wonder if you should change what you’re doing.

Maybe you pause for a second or maybe you second guess yourself.

It happens fast, but it’s enough to pull you out of it.

It’s not really about the exercise. It’s about that feeling of “Am I doing this right?” Or “Do I look like I know what I’m doing?”

But the person you’ve just looked at has probably done the exact same thing before too.

They’ve had that same moment of doubt. But they just kept going anyway. You will too.

Your confidence will grow and you won’t worry about how you look soon enough.

There is something else.

“Am I doing this right?”
“Do I look out of place?”
“Should I be doing what they’re doing?”

A quick glance around the room and you make a quiet comparison.

Most people aren’t focused on the workout.
They’re trying to figure out if they belong.

And if they don’t feel like they do…
they drift in and out, they start and stop or they keep it inconsistent.

Not because they don’t care.

Because they never quite felt comfortable enough to stay.

If tricep push downs ever irritate your elbows or shoulders… start here!

Once you’re warm, the key is control - not weight.

Hinge slightly forward at the hips.
Back straight.
Keep your elbows tucked by your sides.
Move only through the forearm.
Slow down on the way up and squeeze at the bottom.

It’s a small movement, but when it’s done right, you’ll feel it exactly where you should.

Train smart, protect your joints and build stronger arms.

Sitting there for a minute… talking yourself to go inside.
Telling yourself you’ll “just do a light one.”

Not feeling 100% and not feeling motivated.

That part doesn’t really go away.
Even for people who’ve been training for years.

The difference is — they don’t see that moment as a reason to leave.
They see it as a part of the process.

They come in anyway and start. More often than not, it turns into a solid session.
Not because it got easier, but because they stopped waiting to feel ready.

That small decision is what everything else builds from.

or it won’t take as much effort to get through a session.

But that’s not really how it works.

The challenge stays.
What changes… is you, your capacity and your recovery...
as well as your confidence in what your body can handle.

So if it still feels hard sometimes —
that’s not a sign it’s not working.
It’s a sign you’re still in it.

They may walk in a bit unsure, but then something happens…

Someone says hello or a coach checks in or the session is adjusted so they can ease back in.

No one makes it a big deal and no one points out how long they’ve been gone.

They are just welcomed back and they pick up where they left off.

Within a session or two it starts to feel familiar again.

Lunges just aren’t about your legs.

They challenge your balance, your control and your confidence.

For a lot of people, that’s where it starts to feel uncomfortable.

That’s why we add a band.

It gives your body feedback. It helps you stay stable and it teaches the muscles to actually do their job.

There’s a phase no one really prepares you for.

Where things stop feeling new.
Stop feeling hard.
Stop feeling obvious.

You’re still showing up…
but it doesn’t feel like it’s doing much.

So naturally, your brain starts looking for something else.

Something harder.
Something different.
Something that feels like progress again.

But this is usually where people get it wrong.

Because this phase isn’t a plateau.
It’s where your body is actually locking things in.

Getting stronger in a quieter way.
Moving better without you noticing straight away.

It’s not exciting…
but it’s the part that actually lasts.

Don't give it all up. Keep going. You will see the results more and more!
