ASHM recently supported 13 nurses and midwives to attend sexual health training in Perth, building their understanding of the public health aspects and clinical management of HIV, hepatitis B, and common sexually transmissible infections.

A total of 26 course attendees formed new connections while gaining confidence in applying proactive, evidence-based approaches to sexual health care.

ASHM is looking for a HepPEd Educator to lead the implementation of the National Prisons Hepatitis Education Program across six Western Australian prisons. This role could suit a Nurse, Nurse Educator, Hepatitis Educator or similar.

This critical role offers a chance to make a real difference to public health and prisoner education in Western Australia by empowering health staff, custodial staff, and people in prison with vital knowledge about hepatitis C and harm reduction.

HIV cases are rising in the Pacific. In response, ASHM recently worked with the Ministry of Health & Medical Services - Fiji and the HIV Outbreak Response Taskforce to convene the Pacific HIV Testing Innovations Workshop in Fiji. Thirty representatives from across the Pacific shared current HIV testing and prevention efforts in their respective countries and discussed solutions to increasing equitable access to HIV screening, prevention, and treatment.
