Did you know one school raised over $46,000 through STRYDE4 last year?

Imagine the impact your school community could have.

We’re inviting local schools to STRYDE4 AYAH on Tuesday, 19th May.

This is a valuable opportunity to:
• Demonstrate the importance of giving back
• Engage students in a meaningful, real-world initiative
• Build a strong sense of community and shared purpose

Create a school team, start fundraising and be part of something that makes a genuine difference.

This could be one of the most impactful excursions your school takes part in.

What if one role could unlock hundreds of moments of connection?

At the Adolescent and Young Adult Hospice (AYAH) in Manly, volunteers are at the heart of everything - bringing comfort, companionship and moments of joy to young people facing life-limiting illness.
But behind every great volunteer experience is coordination, care and leadership.

That’s why this STRYDE4 Day, we’re raising funds for a Volunteer Team Leader - a critical role that ensures every young person receives consistent, personalised support when they need it most.
From matching volunteers to patients, to creating meaningful one-on-one experiences and outings, this role turns good intentions into real impact.

And as we step into National Volunteer Week, there’s no better time to support the people who make connection possible.

Every step helps make it happen.

Celebrating Harmony Week at AYAH 🌏

This week, we’ve been celebrating Harmony Week through the universal language of food.

Our kitchen team prepared a series of culturally diverse meals, highlighting the rich backgrounds that make up our community. The standout favourite among staff was undeniably the Jamaican Jerk Chicken, served with steamed greens and apricot turmeric rice.

A sincere thank you to Chef Phil and the entire team for their creativity and for bringing these flavours to our dining room. At AYAH, we are proud to foster an environment where everyone belongs.

🦒 Making dreams happen at Taronga Zoo 🦒✨

When Sammy, a patient at the Adolescent and Young Adult Hospice (AYAH), shared her love for Giraffes, we knew who to call.

Thanks to the incredible team at Taronga Zoo, Sammy enjoyed a bespoke, accessible encounter, getting up close to feed these magnificent animals. To make the day even more special, Nerida from the Knitters and Natters of Watermark hand-knitted a beautiful Giraffe and personally presented it to Sammy at the zoo.

A heartfelt thank you to Taronga Zoo and the Watermark community for their generosity in creating such a thoughtful and unforgettable experience.

4K Open Ocean Swim for AYAH 🌊

On Saturday, April 11th, a local legend Steve Rodgers is taking on the Sydney Heads 4000—a grueling swim from Manly to Watsons Bay across the Harbour Heads—all to raise vital funds for our young people here at AYAH.

Having seen firsthand the dignity and care our team provides to patients aged 16–30, he’s diving into the deep to ensure that support continues. We are endlessly moved by this level of grit and heart. 💙

Good luck Steve!!

The Adolescent and Young Adult Hospice (AYAH) at Manly recently hosted a vibrant four-week art residency, giving patients and carers a chance to explore creativity, connect with each other, and express themselves in new ways.

The pilot program, delivered with Art Aid and sponsored by Dexus, grew from a legacy project three years ago. At that time, a young patient in end-of-life care worked with Art Aid Director Chris Skyner and local muralist Kentaro to create murals that would later be
displayed at their school, leaving a lasting impression.

"It offers patients and carers a chance to connect, create, and just be themselves outside a clinical setting," said Tayia Yeates, Services Manager at AYAH.

Thank you, Lego!

When a patient recently joined us for respite care, we discovered she was a huge LEGO fan. We reached out to the team at LEGO, and within 24 hours, a collection of sets was couriered straight to our door.

The joy on her face said it all. Care at the AYAH is about so much more than just clinical support; it’s about the personal touches that bring comfort, distraction, and a sense of home.

A huge thank you to LEGO for their incredible generosity and for helping us make these moments so special. LEGO

Remembering Bodhi 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

Last year, AYAH staff marched in the Mardi Gras parade—a final request from Bodhi we were honored to keep.

This year, we’re celebrating Pride at the AYAH in all kinds of ways, keeping Bodhi’s vibrant spirit at the heart of everything we do. ✨

Celebrating this weekend? Post your photos and tag to join the tribute. 🌈

A generous gesture in memory of Lili 🌸

One of our patient carers, Sara, has been a dedicated supporter of the AYAH since we opened over three years ago.

Sara’s daughter, Lili, sadly died at the age of four after a battle with severe epilepsy. Today, Sara honours Lili by ensuring her daughter’s story continues to be shared and remembered.

In a beautiful gesture for what would have been Lili’s upcoming 12th birthday on March 24th, Sara has gifted a number of vouchers to all of our current patients.

We are so moved by this kindness. Thank you, Sara, for everything you do for the AYAH. We will always hold a space for Lili and continue to share stories of her beautiful life. 🕊️
