Did you know that adrenaline (a natural stress hormone) suppresses hunger?
Affirming feeding therapy should never induce a stress response.

Through food play, children develop the skills to eat and explore new foods now and in the future. When a child learns at their comfort level in a supportive environment, they are able to be present and their brain builds new pathways that help them to solidify the skills needed for feeding. An affirming therapist reads a child's cues and helps them to feel comfortable and regulate when needed.

When you have a picky eater, mealtimes become stressful for the whole family.

Food play can transform mealtimes into times where we can connect. It empowers children to feel confident in learning about and exploring new foods!

When you engage in food play:
- You reduce the pressure and stress on your child. Did you know that stress hormones suppress appetite!?!
- Children get to explore. They feel the food and start to think about what it might be like to eat. Knowledge gives children the confidence to engage and try new things!
- Children start to associate food with fun! They become curious about new foods.
- Children are in control of what they do with the food and if they eat it. This empowers them to try something new!

*Food play should be supervised, only offer textures that are safe for your child.
