We are thrilled to announce Michelle Mendez has joined The Mind Body Practice team!

Michelle is a Provisional Psychologist who acknowledges that our unique human experiences bring a range of difficulties, strengths, and needs. She believes that a strong and genuine therapeutic connection is fundamental when working with her clients to achieve their therapeutic goals, so she works hard to ensure that her clients feel safe, supported, understood, and validated. She has a special interest in depression, anxiety, trauma and stressor related disorders, and body image concerns.

Michelle is based at our Bella Vista office on Tuesdays and our Parramatta office on Wednesdays with after-hours appointment availability starting from Tuesday 16th July. We are thrilled to announce Oliver Scott has joined The Mind Body Practice team!

Oliver is a Clinical Psychologist who offers guidance and support to his clients whilst they form their own path through life's challenges, allowing them to reach their own goals of growth and development. He has a special interest in anxiety and unhelpful avoidance, adult survivors of developmental trauma, complex PTSD, emotional dysregulation, grief and loss, and terminal illness.

"Flipping Your Lid" - Part Three, the Finale!

What are some strategies that can help if you find your child (or yourself) experiencing some intense emotions?

It can take some time for these feelings to subside, so there are some ways that can help calm your mind and body down.

If there's a hobby you have, such as reading, knitting or listening to music, or mindfulness techniques such as deep breathing, these can help. If your child is experiencing these big feelings, try to create a calming space for them, such as a plush corner to gently alleviate their intense feelings, or get them active & moving, maybe go for a walk or play a sport.
