A wheelchair is part of someone’s personal space, just like a backpack or walking stick. Respecting this helps build safer and more inclusive communities. 💙
Here are a few simple do’s and don’ts to keep in mind:
1️⃣ Don’t lean on or touch a wheelchair. It is part of the person’s body space.
2️⃣ Don’t push a wheelchair without permission. Even if you mean well, it can be unsafe and disrespectful.
3️⃣ Do ask before offering help. Never assume someone needs assistance.
4️⃣ Do make space in shared areas. Keep paths, ramps and lifts clear.
5️⃣ Don’t talk to the support worker instead of the wheelchair user. Always address the person directly.
✨ Small actions make a big difference. Choose respect, not assumptions.
