ESSAY STARTS HERE ⬇️
The other day a fellow trainer told me that I “move for the sake of moving.” At first, I was pretty offended. It stuck with me for a while, until I realised that that trainer lacked the understanding of why I see movement as important 💥
My idea of training has never been to perfect my lifts completely, or work within a set rep range, or increase load each week. I train to challenge my body in all forms. I train to try new things and to improve elements of my fitness that will assist in my EVERY DAY LIFE. I train for physiological benefits, and long term gain, such as bone health, cardiac function, and the freedom to move for as long as possible. My goal may not be to look great while doing an exercise, or lose a certain amount of body fat, and there is nothing wrong with these goals at all! They just don’t suit me.
I enjoy my training because I do what I feel like doing, when I feel like doing it. I train to feel good, and to move more, and move well. I train because I believe that exercise is not only prevention, but medicine.
I train to be able to do activities like this ^^^ for as long as possible! To enjoy my life and the gift of freedom of movement that I have been blessed with! To have fun every day 🌊🏄🏽‍♀️🏐💛
Never feel like you have to set goals that meet the standards of the modern gym ju**ie. This may not always have your health and longevity at best interest. And NEVER question your values to fit someone else’s. Train because YOU enjoy it! ✨
And just because it’s Valentine’s Day ❤️

Did you know that learning a new motor skill, such as juggling, can increase the grey matter and efficiency of connections in your brain? 🎪
Not all training needs to be done in the gym. Learning new motor skills like this one helps with not only coordination, but cognition - two things we aim to have for a lifetime.
Keep your mind active, don’t just feed your body! 🧠💛

Repost // .
A very, very important concept 💡
Most of my clients are office workers. And each time I see them I ask, “what did you do in your lunch break?” hoping they’ll tell me they went for a walk or left the office. But, most of the time the answer is “I ate lunch at my desk.”
Without even realising, this is damaging 🤯 Not making time to get up and move around in the only allocated time that you have in your working day, is doing your body damage both physically and physiologically.
A sedentary lifestyle is becoming one of the biggest risk factors for chronic disease, so don’t let your occupation stop you from using the abilities you were blessed with!
Movement matters! Get up, get outside in the fresh air! Have time for yourself. It’ll more than likely make you more productive in the office. Use your movement before you lose it ☝🏽

GET OUTSIDE YOUR COMFORT ZONE // How often do you try something new?
I always see cool exercise variations on instagram that I wanna try. Most of the time I look like an idiot and I’m hopeless, but that’s all part of the fun.
This was my new challenge for today 🤗 What was yours?

I grew up into a competitive family with no other choice than to play sport and be active - and man did I fit into it. 15 years of netball later, along with tennis, basketball, surflife saving, and all others along the way, I finished school knowing that whatever path I took - it had to be active.
I began studying a degree in exercise and sports science at USYD in 2014, changing over to exercise physiology 2 years in. And up until the end of that degree, the goal to work with athletes was always number 1 in my mind. .
I aspired to coach athletes to improve their performance both on and off the field, and prevent long term bodily deterioration after retirement.
The dream has not changed. However, my scope of practice has grown. .
Upon completing 4 clinical placements in my final year of study, I noticed the demand for greater education in ‘MOVING WELL’ in the everyday individual, which set me on a new path.
When finishing my degree in 2018, I got offered an opportunity to run my business out of Fitness First Park St, in Sydney CBD. A location where I can assist the corporate individual, mother, retail worker, etc. with rehabilitation, posture, muscular imbalances and so much more, to improve their quality of life.
And if I could teach every single person 1 thing, it would be this:
👏🏽You cannot move at pace, with intensity, or push your body to its limits, without first learning the correct way in which your body must move.👏🏽
If you wish to retain a quality of life injury free, or achieve a desired result from training, you must remember this. .
And this one statement forms the basis of my service. To train hard, and achieve results, you must first move well.
Keep up to date with this page to find tips, client progression and more. I will be posting much more frequently, I promise 🤗
If you would like more info or have any questions, feel free to DM 📩 I’m happy to help

An EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGIST bridges the gap between a physiotherapist and personal trainer, using exercise as a therapy to treat chronic health conditions, lifestyle diseases, and return from long-term injury.
Exercise physiology promotes the practice of moving well to allow the body to work at an intensity that sets clients on a path to achieving their goals.
Whether used as prevention or cure, exercise physiology can benefit the every day individual in creating a clear path to achieve their wellbeing goals, no matter what they may be 💪🏽
