Congratulations to our patient Lily and the U18 Australian Women's National Ice Hockey team who recently won the Bronze medal at the World Championships in Turkey.

Lily saw our Physiotherapist Tim for an ankle injury and was able to complete her rehab in time to be fit and represent Australia on the World Stage. We were proud to be able to help with her outstanding achievement!

The Bird Dog Exercise is a core exercise that improves spinal stability and can help relieve lower back pain. This exercise uses the whole body to target and strengthen your core, hip and back muscles. It also helps promote proper posture.

The exercise is suitable for people of all levels, including older adults, and can be used to prevent injury, align your spine and recover from low back pain.
Please consult your physio if the exercise causes more pain or you are not comfortable with any of the exercises.

Good luck to Super Beth our Exercise Physiologist, she will be running the Gold Coast Marathon tomorrow. Yes 42km!

It takes great discipline, determination, strong will and a touch of craziness to go through all the training to prepare and then run the marathon. Great effort.

We are very proud of Beth.

GOOD LUCK!

Ankle taping can be used effectively in both the prevention and the treatment of ankle injuries, and aid a return to sport.

Here our Physio Logan goes through step by step on how to tape an ankle.

Steps to ankle taping
1. Anchor
2. 2-3 stirrups
3. 2 figure 6’s
4. 2 heel locks
5. Anchor to lock up

Avoid creases, apply even pressure, make sure the taping is not to tight and restricting blood flow and make sure plantarflexion/dorsiflexion (forward /backward) is not restricted.

Please note it is important that a full rehabilitation program is needed to treat an ankle sprain. This means balance, strengthening, manual therapy and corrective exercises. Tape alone without the required rehab will not do the trick. Be sure to always consult with your Physio to check if taping and a return to sport is right for you.
