POCUS Training Initiatives in the Philippines 🇵🇭
The University of Santo Tomas (UST) Faculty of Medicine and Surgery has announced the establishment of a new Simulation Laboratory and Ultrasound Skills Laboratory. This initiative aims to enhance point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) training for faculty members, enabling them to validate their POCUS expertise and establish high standards of care and instruction for medical students.

Why It Matters
Capacity Building: The new facilities will support the development of POCUS skills among healthcare professionals in the region.
Standardisation: By establishing high standards of care and instruction, the initiative aims to improve the quality of medical education and patient care.
Regional Impact: The project is expected to have a significant impact on maternal and child health outcomes in the Philippines, particularly in remote areas.

Next Steps
If your institution is considering POCUS integration, this development underscores the importance of investing in training facilities and faculty development to ensure the effective implementation of POCUS in clinical settings.

👉 Engage with local educational institutions and healthcare providers to explore collaborative opportunities in POCUS training and standardisation.
