In February 2026, RAD-AID South Pacific Program Director, Jo McCann and Sonographer Volunteer, Penelope Wilkinson traveled to Vanuatu National Hospital in Port Vila, Vanuatu to deliver the second workshop in the Certificate in Fundamental Ultrasound (CFU) programme.

RAD-AID thanks the Pasifika Medical Association (PMA) for their support in this volunteer trip.

“A wide range of ultrasound examinations was performed, consistent with the expected general workload at the facility.

Notable improvement in the local team's technique and systematic assessment of biliary structures was observed compared to approximately six months prior, reflecting good skill retention and ongoing development between visits.”

~ Jo McCann, Director, RAD-AID South Pacific

April is - but what is it?

Adenomyosis occurs when the lining of the uterus grows into the uterine muscle, causing it to thicken and enlarge.

The result? Heavy periods, severe cramps, chronic pelvic pain, and bloating that can significantly impact daily life.

The good news: it can now be diagnosed non-invasively through transvaginal ultrasound (TVUS) or pelvic MRI.

Awareness is the first step to earlier diagnosis and more support - share this post with someone who needs to see it 💙
