💙 World Autism Awareness Day

At Meditech, we’re proud to support autistic individuals through personalised, compassionate care.

Autism is a condition that affects how people see and experience the world—and in Australia, 1 in 40 people are on the spectrum.

By listening, learning, and embracing neurodiversity, we can create more inclusive services and communities where everyone feels supported to thrive.

💙 Today is World Autism Awareness Day.

Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how a person's brain develops and functions. It also shapes how someone sees, understands, and connects with the world around them. Today, we take a moment to recognise and celebrate the strengths, perspectives, and voices of autistic people across our communities.

In Australia, around 1 in 40 people are on the autism spectrum, and over 214,000 NDIS participants identify autism as their primary disability.
Yet, understanding still has a way to go—45% of Australians say they have a limited understanding of autism (YouGov/SBS, 2025).

At Lumia Care, we walk alongside autistic participants, their families, and support networks every day. We know that small steps—listening, learning, and being open to different ways of thinking—can lead to meaningful, lasting change.

We're reminded today that awareness is just the beginning. Real inclusion happens when we value the unique perspectives of autistic people, challenge our assumptions, and create environments where everyone can thrive. By embracing neurodiversity, we move closer to a more compassionate and connected world.

Meditech, part of the Lumia Care family, is looking for a passionate Community Support Worker to assist clients in Pokolbin and Cessnock. This is a casual position with competitive pay, ongoing training, and a supportive team that values your contributions.

In this role, you’ll provide personal care, social support, and domestic assistance while helping clients maintain their independence. Flexible shifts are available, including daytime and overnight hours.

We’re seeking empathetic individuals with a Certificate III or IV in Aged Care, Community, or Disability (preferred), a valid driver’s license, and current Police Check and First Aid certification.
