Very interesting words by The Chronic Couple -
"Alexithymia is when a person has difficulty identifying and expressing emotions. It’s not a mental health disorder but may have a co-occurring mental health condition, such as depression, PTSD, ADHD, or no mental health conditions at all.

Alexithymia also has strong links with autistic folx. Interesting to note that a recent study indicated that approximately half of autistic people likely have alexithymia, it’s these autistics who struggled more with emotion and empathy, whereas the other half DID NOT. In other words, maybe emotion-related difficulties are due to co-occurring alexithymia, NOT autism."
