Somatic trauma therapy is a therapeutic approach that focuses on the connection between the body-mind that can treat the symptoms that experiencing trauma can leave behind. Trauma is relived in the body everyday, this reliving is known as a trigger.

Unlike traditional talk therapy, somatic therapy emphasises on the physical sensations and feelings in the body as a way to process and heal. In a session I help you create trust by guiding you to sit with your own emotions and feelings, this leads to processing them.

Nikki is a Certified Somatic Trauma Therapist, she is skilled to support you through these triggers and close the stress cycle your body-mind is caught in. Bringing your nervous system gently into the present.

It almost sounds to simple, but by connecting your physical experiences with sensations, you can work through these emotions and begin to move on and heal. This approach helps you feel more grounded, regain a sense of control, and reconnect with your body, ultimately guiding you toward greater well-being and peace.

I am a Somatic Therapist, my job is to support people out the s**t cycles and feelings we are stuck in that seem too much to the body, the unsafe situations that it feels it never got out of. I’m also so much more than that. I encourage you to really feel what it is to connect and live a life of expressions and creativity beyond the conditioning we have all succumb to. That’s turned into ‘the norm’. I support you to be a disruptor in the best possible way. Unlearning.

Are you ready?

Tired of talking about your past but getting no relief?

Talking about traumatic experiences without nervous system work can leave you having to re-live what you went through without finding the way out. Your nervous system is still wired for what it thinks is going to happen, we need to bring it into the present and allow it to process that you survived.

Somatic therapy is all about this work. Allowing you to feel and process what went on in the body, in the feelings and sensations that come up when you think or talk about your experiences, we then bring in body work. To close the stress cycle, to allow your body to become 'unstuck' in this cycle. Bringing you relief and the ability to 'let go'

If this sounds like you and anxiety, depression or other mental health symptoms are rulin gyour life then Somatic Therapy could be the way out.

What is your body-mind speaks to you in colours? What if hunger is blue to you but you’ve never been encouraged to explore that option.

Why if your body-mind speaks in visuals? A shape or a picture is sadness?

In a neurotypical focused world we are taught how we should be able to feel these things in certain ways, to listen to our bodies signals and act on them, and if we don’t, then it’s something we are doing wrong.

Interoception is the ability to read your body’s internal signals. For every person those signals are unique, they can come in sensation, colours, visuals and so much more. We are never encouraged to explore this in this way, learn the language of your own body.

How does your body talk to you?

When we presume we are usually projecting how we would be feeling. Presuming through our minds lens. How about in future just asking? We would be in a very different place.

Somatic awareness and knowledge is life changing for us and community. Another level.

Come for a session, let’s see how many unspoken words your jaw is holding

Again as a disclaimer, I am all for body autonomy and doing what you want with your body. It’s yours to live in. Medication can save lives, but they treat a symptom not a cause. The causes are usually Systemic. This is to bring insight and awareness on my concerns as a Somatic Therapist. In this I don’t even discuss the enhancement of the interceptors on a body who suffers with CPDS, That’s a whole other discussion.

Love to hear your thoughts.
