🌟 Let’s get to know a little about our esteemed speakers! 🌟

✨Dr. Belinda Lai is an accredited dermatology registrar at Liverpool Hospital. Dr. Lai will be speaking about her experiences as a registrar and what the training program is like, as well as her experiences in research.

✨Dr. Niyaz Mostafa is a clinical research fellow at the St. George Dermatology and Skin Cancer Centre. Dr. Mostafa will be speaking about his time as a clinical research fellow and the types of research he conducts.

✨Dr. Kathryn Chen is an intern at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Dr. Chen graduated from Western Sydney University last year and is joining us to speak about how she became interested in dermatology and her research journey so far.

Dr Tristan Rutland provides dedicated and comprehensive teaching of pathology to our WSU medical students and we are honoured to have him sharing his knowledge of dermatology pathology!

Dr Tristan Rutland graduated from the University of Wollongong with distinction in 2011. In 2020, he was the recipient of the Konrad Muller RCPA Outstanding Teaching Award. He has experience in teaching all levels of medical training from 1st year medical students to final year pathology registrars and involved in cross specialty training of registrars including dermatology, surgical and oncology registrars. One of this passions is teaching through social media, in particular, Twitter, where he is internationally recognised as a medical educator.

Currently based at Western Sydney university and Liverpool hospital as an anatomical pathologist, he has a sub-specialty interest in gastrointestinal pathology.

Dermatology Society has arrived in Western Sydney!

This is a crucial opportunity to meet the growing demand for dermatology education among WSU medical students and to address increasing community health needs

Objectives:
✔️ Enhance education for medical students and the broader community through guest speakers, workshops, and lectures
✔️ Increase awareness of public health issues such as skin cancer prevention and the under representation of darker skin tones in dermatology education, which is vital for the Western Sydney community
✔️ Provide networking opportunities to gain insights into training programs and career pathways
✔️ Foster a supportive and collaborative environment that encourages members to share ideas and support one another
