Our optometrists John Granata, Aileen Towse, Eva Yuen and Angela Ng have over 60 years experience between them and their aim is to give you the most comprehensive ocular examination available. We pride ourselves on giving good old fashioned service and advice and will go above and beyond to meet our patients needs. This Tuesday at Club Parramatta, John was recognised as one of the longest serving optometrists in Australia — a milestone that reflects not just years of dedication, but a lifetime of impact.

John’s contribution goes far beyond the consulting room. Every year, he gives his time to charity and community health initiatives. From working as an optometrist at the Paralympics, to providing care in Tonga, to his ongoing involvement with Hepatitis B Free — his commitment to helping others is extraordinary.

Hepatitis B Free is more than just a non-profit. It’s a passionate team on a mission to deliver healthcare through education, and John plays a vital role by supplying optical aids to disadvantaged communities in Papua New Guinea.

But beyond all of this, John is simply one of the kindest people we know — always generous, always humble, and always willing to help anyone.

We love you, John. Congratulations on this incredible recognition. Enjoy your semi-retirement (and plenty more years of cricket!) — you’ve more than earned it 🏏✨

Happy 11-Year Work Anniversary, Aileen! 🎉

When we first met Aileen, we weren’t quite sure what to expect. She came from a corporate background, managing more than 25 Bupa Optical stores — would she fit into our little shop in Northmead?

Eleven years later, the answer is a resounding yes.

Aileen has brought incredible technology and expertise to our community, introducing advanced diagnostics like Optical Coherence Tomography, Meibography and Visioffice. These innovations allow earlier detection of eye diseases such as glaucoma and macular degeneration, helping us protect our patients’ vision for the future.

She has also expanded the care we can provide, introducing mini scleral contact lenses for keratoconus — a much more comfortable option for vision correction — and orthokeratology, where specially designed lenses gently reshape the eye overnight so mild to moderate short-sightedness can be corrected while you sleep.

This year Aileen and Daniella even launched their own eyewear line, .au.

Aileen has also brought Behavioural Optometry to the practice, helping children with learning difficulties and supporting patients with symptoms like tired eyes and double vision that aren’t always detected in a standard eye test.

Behind the scenes, she also manages our website, making it simple and convenient for you to reorder your contact lenses.

It’s hard to imagine what Northmead would be like without Aileen. We are incredibly grateful for the dedication, innovation and care she has brought to our practice over the past 11 years.
