Yesterday we had the pleasure of visiting Anglicare Goodwin Village in Woollahra for a free assessment day with residents.

We currently run three exercise classes a week at the village, so it was a wonderful opportunity to check in with everyone, assessing blood pressure, leg strength, grip strength and balance. While also encouraging residents to remember that movement is medicine 💪✨

A big thank you to everyone who took part, It’s always inspiring to see residents taking active steps to look after their health and well-being.

Did you know that exercise is one of the best ways to stay strong and independent as you age?

💪 As we get older, muscles naturally weaken, and balance can decline. But regular movement helps keep you steady on your feet. Simple exercises like walking and leg lifts build strength, improve balance, and reduce the risk of falls.

😊 This Seniors Week, celebrate your health by staying active! Whether it’s a short walk or gentle strength exercises, every movement counts toward keeping you confident and moving with ease.

🦴 Strengthen Your Bones and Boost Stability! 🏋️‍♀️

Are you over 55 and looking to improve your bone health? Here are three powerful exercise tips to help you combat osteopenia:
1️⃣ Strengthen Your Balance to Prevent Falls: Boost your leg and core strength to improve stability and reduce fall risks, keeping your bones safe from fractures.
2️⃣ Build Stronger Bones with Strength Training: Use resistance like body weight, bands, or weights to make your muscles—and your bones—stronger.
3️⃣ Enhance Bone Strength with Impact Exercises: Simple moves like step-ups and stomping put the right kind of force through your bones, helping them grow stronger over time.

🌟 Thrive with Exercise and T1DM 🌟
Did you know that staying active isn’t just beneficial for your overall health, but it’s especially important for managing Type 1 Diabetes (T1DM) too?

💪 Regular exercise helps reduce the risk of diabetes-related complications such as neuropathy, retinopathy, and kidney disease. Staying active supports overall health and lowers the likelihood of long-term issues. Additionally, exercise increases insulin sensitivity, allowing your body’s cells to better absorb glucose from the bloodstream. This helps manage blood sugar levels more effectively and reduces the overall demand for insulin.

❤️ Exercise also boosts cardiovascular health, which is crucial for those with T1DM. A strong heart and healthy blood vessels support better overall health and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Curious to learn more about how exercise can help manage T1DM? Reach out to us at 02 8056 2357 and let our expert exercise physiologists guide you on the path to strength and vitality! 📞
