The smell alone had everyone smiling 🔥💛

Our new BBQ service was a huge hit, with residents loving the inviting aromas and relaxed atmosphere. We were also lucky to have families join us, making it feel even more special and full of connection.

As you can see in the photo, Stanley and Milan were right in the action, helping out on the BBQ and enjoying every moment. Days like these are about more than food — they’re about togetherness, laughter, and creating memories that feel like home.

We’ll be hosting these BBQs once a month, so families and friends are always welcome — come and join us 🌭🥗🔥

Today we celebrated our Staff Raffle, and it was a wonderful and festive occasion.
With Christmas carols playing and residents dancing, the atmosphere was full of joy and cheer — a truly special time of year to come together as a community. It was lovely to see so many staff and family members winning beautiful prizes, made possible by the generosity of our contractors. A heartfelt thank you to our contractors for donating such wonderful gifts and supporting our team.
We were also delighted to have Andrew and Mary Pembroke join us to present the raffle awards and to show their appreciation for all our staff. Andrew shared some kind and thoughtful words, recognising the care, dedication, and hard work our staff provide every day.

John, our much-loved physiotherapist, runs a weekly exercise class for our residents focused on keeping them strong, mobile, and confident in their everyday movements.

These sessions are always a highlight of the week — filled with encouragement, laughter, and gentle challenges tailored to each resident’s abilities. John’s kindness, patience, and genuine connection with our residents make a real difference to their wellbeing, and he is truly cherished by everyone at Homewood.

One of the most special things about Homewood is the diversity of our community. Our residents come from many cultures, backgrounds and faiths, which makes Homewood a rich and welcoming place to live.

Yesterday, we were fortunate to welcome a Catholic priest who celebrated Mass with residents on the Homewood first floor, under our new vergola. We are also grateful to the many faith leaders who share their time and spirit with our residents.

A special thank you to our wonderful volunteer Pat, who brings the Eucharist to Homewood every Wednesday, always with a smile and a willingness to help.

Today we had the absolute privilege of celebrating Ronald Webster’s 93rd birthday — a truly special milestone.

There were smiles, laughter, cake, and plenty of love — exactly how birthdays should be celebrated.

✨ What an absolutely beautiful day at Homewood! ✨

Today we celebrated a truly remarkable milestone — Mary Zachridies turned 103, making her our oldest resident 💐🎂

Mary was surrounded by love as she celebrated with her three children George, Elizabeth and Kathy, along with the rest of her wonderful family.

Mary keeps herself fit with daily walks, speaks more than four languages, and greets everyone with her warm smile every single day 💛
Her children shared that she has truly lived a great life — and it shows.

Happy 103rd Birthday, Mary. You are an inspiration to us all 🥂💐

Christmas chaos (the good kind!) at Homewood today!
Santa made a grand entrance, our residents tucked into a special Christmas lunch, and our staff even treated everyone to some very enthusiastic singing. (Our poor residents were incredibly brave… we may owe them earplugs for Christmas!)
We had families visiting, lots of laughs, and plenty of smiles all around. The festive spirit is officially alive and well at Homewood.
We can’t wait to see more of you throughout this joyful, slightly noisy, wonderfully fun season!

At Homewood Care, we’re incredibly proud that over 20% of our residents are of Greek heritage — and they bring so much heart, warmth, and culture to our home.

This week we were delighted to welcome the Greek Welfare Society, who filled our rooms with traditional singing, dancing, and the joyful spirit that makes these visits so special.

Our residents absolutely lit up — clapping, singing along, and sharing stories from their own families and childhoods. Moments like these remind us why celebrating culture, identity, and connection is at the heart of what we do at Homewood.

A huge thank you to the Greek Welfare Society for your continued love and energy… we are so lucky to have you as part of the Homewood family. 💙

Kindy Farm at Homewood Today!

What a fantastic day we had at Homewood! Our Kindy Farm visit brought so much joy to our residents, families, and staff. We were lucky enough to welcome adorable little ducklings, ducks, guinea pigs, a cheeky goat, and even a pig or two!

The smiles, laughter and gentle interactions were truly beautiful to see. Days like this remind us why these moments of connection are so important in aged care — they bring warmth, comfort, and a sense of fun to everyone.

Thank you to our amazing staff for organising such a special experience, and thank you to our families for sharing the day with us!!!
