Last Thursday night at the Building Bridges Network event in Silverwater (Sydney), three incredible panellists did something rare — they told it straight about what the NDIS is actually going to look like in 2026.
No spin. No corporate waffle. Just honest, experienced people sharing what they're seeing on the ground and what's coming next.
The big themes? Sustainability over growth. Tighter compliance. A brand new way of assessing support needs that could change how every single plan is created — and yes, there are some real concerns about what that means for participants.
But there were also genuinely hopeful moments. Conversations about how technology, when it's done right, can actually free up support workers to spend more time with the people they care for. About how small gestures — a birthday message, a bit of recognition — can make a massive difference to a workforce that often feels invisible.
