Your thoughts can trick you! 🧠💭

Sometimes our mind falls into thinking traps — like imagining the worst, seeing things as all good or all bad, or believing our feelings are facts. These traps make anxiety worse because they blow problems out of proportion and make you feel stuck. The more you fall into these thought patterns, the more your brain keeps sounding the alarm, even when there’s no real danger. 🌪️✨

we understand that many people develop automatic thinking patterns, which are mental habits or “default” ways of interpreting situations that can be unhelpful and anxiety-provoking, (sometimes without even realizing it). These patterns can keep anxiety high and impact our daily life!

Our therapists work with you to identify these ingrained thought patterns and explore how they affect your emotions. We then guide you to practice more adaptive perspectives, helping you respond to situations in a balanced, realistic way. Over time, this approach can reduce anxiety, increase emotional control, and improve overall well-being. 🌱

Just a gentle reminder therapy is a journey, not a destination. Some days may feel uncertain, but each step forward is progress. Trust the winding path, and keep moving toward growth. 💫 #ʜᴇᴀʟɪɴɢᴊᴏᴜʀɴᴇʏ

✨ You don’t have to be a perfect parent to be a good one.

You’re allowed to have tough days, lose your patience, and still be a loving, present parent. What matters most is that you keep showing up with care, even when it’s messy.

It’s important to remember that you are your child’s blueprint for how to handle stress, treat themselves, and move through the world. They absorb many things that they see, and treat themselves in the same way. With that in mind…

❤️ Treat yourself with kindness – speak to yourself the way you’d speak to your child on a hard day.
✋ Set boundaries – show that it’s okay to say no, to rest, and to protect your time and energy.
🫂 Ask for help – model that needing support is human, not a weakness.
☕️ Make space for your needs – demonstrate that your feelings and well-being matter, too.

These actions don’t just help you — they shape how your child learns to care for themselves.

OCD is not just about being tidy or particular about how you want things organized.

- It is a cycle of intrusive thoughts, negative appraisals and compulsions to seek relief

- It can be debilitating for people going through these cycles and time consuming

- It is not only cleanliness, there can be many types of OCD

- Exposure Response Prevention is often the standard treatment for OCD (sometimes alongside medication)

Are you constantly chasing perfection but feeling exhausted inside? You’re not alone. Perfectionism often has deep roots tied to early experiences and can lead to anxiety, burnout, and self-doubt.

At Peace of Mind Psychology Clinic, we understand these patterns and offer compassionate, evidence-based support to help you find balance and peace. Meet our Principal Psychologists, Adiba & Katie with their younger selves.

Often in therapy, we encourage our clients to connect with their younger, vulnerable child — the part of themselves that carries unmet needs, pain, and longing for safety and care.

One thing we’re deeply passionate about is practicing what we encourage. When we tell you to connect with your vulnerable child, we want you to know that we too understand what it feels like — the discomfort, the courage, the relief, and the hope.

If you’re finding it hard to meet that younger part of yourself, know you’re not alone — and that connection, as messy or tender as it might be, is a powerful step toward wholeness.

Recognising overstimulation isn’t always easy or obvious. Sometimes, it’s quiet, creeping, and easy to dismiss—until you realize you haven’t felt calm in days (or even weeks!).

It’s important to note that overstimulation doesn’t always come from too much noise. It can also come from too many decisions, too many tabs open (mentally or literally), too many inputs and expectations.

Here are some signs to lookout for because being aware of these signs means you can step in sooner—
BEFORE burnout
BEFORE shutdown and
BEFORE your body has to scream to be heard.

Awareness is the first act of self-care. 🥰

Feeling stuck? We all do sometimes. Like anything, progress can take practice. This means you make productive steps forward and the next minute you can feel lost and unsure about things.

Did you know how to ride a bike when you first tried? Or did it take practice?

Would you attempt to run a marathon without building your stamina?

Would you be a black belt in martial arts without years of practice and mistakes?

Change can be uncomfortable, but staying in the same patterns can be too.

Kids & teens feeling exhausted after school 💫

- Just like adults, kids & teens can feel exhausted after school. And just like us they may need some down time to help them with regenerating.

- This can look different for every child. Some kids & teens need low sensory input and others need more sensory input. It's important to tune into what their needs are to ensure the types of regulation they are using are suited to their needs (if a child needs low sensory input, going to run laps in the back yard may not help!)

- Sometimes this may mean as parents & caregivers we need to adjust our own expectations of what after school looks like (sometimes routine won't go to plan and that's ok!)
