We’re pleased to share that Leigh Place has received a formal letter from Canterbury‑Bankstown Council recognising our nomination for the 2026 Australia Day Awards.

This nomination reflects the ongoing effort our team puts into supporting residents, families and the wider community. It’s a reminder of how much can be achieved when people work with purpose and consistency.

The Council noted the record number of nominations this year, making this acknowledgment even more meaningful. Being listed among the 80 organisations considered is something our entire team can be proud of.

Thank you to everyone—staff, volunteers, partners and supporters—who contributes to Leigh Place each day. Your dedication shapes the standard of care and connection we aim to uphold.

We appreciate the recognition and look forward to continuing the work that earned it.

What a Valentine’s Day to remember at Leigh Place!

Our Elvis-themed Valentine’s Day Concert and Happy Hour had everyone laughing, singing, dancing, and snapping some absolutely hilarious photos. The King brought the charm, and our residents and staff brought the energy! 💕😄

From big smiles to big moves, the joy in the room was contagious. These moments are what make our community truly special. ❤️

🎉 Zumba Fun at Leigh Place! 💃🕺

Our residents and staff had an absolute blast last week at our Zumba class, led by none other than our energetic and ever‑smiling receptionist, Santa! 🌟

Her enthusiasm lit up the room and got everyone moving, laughing, and enjoying some vibrant tunes. It’s moments like these that remind us how powerful community, connection, and a little dancing can be.

We celebrated a little early with our Australia Day BBQ on Friday, and it was such a lovely day for our residents and staff. Great food, sunshine, and plenty of smiles all around. 🌞🍔😊

At Leigh Place, we believe that caring for our residents starts with caring for ourselves — and what better way to begin the day than with a burst of positive energy and movement?

Yesterday morning, our wonderful Lifestyle Coordinator (and resident fitness superstar!) Nicole guided our staff through a refreshing stretching session. 🧘‍♀️✨

These moments help us stay grounded, energised, and connected — ready to provide the best care with a healthy mind and body.

What a beautiful day we’ve shared at our 2025 Christmas Lunch with residents, families, and our beloved therapy dog Buddy, who brought extra joy (and plenty of cuddles!) to the celebration. 🐾❤️

Our Christmas Concert was the perfect touch — full of music, laughter, and heartwarming moments that truly captured the spirit of the season. Seeing our community come together like this is what makes Leigh Place feel like one big family. 🌟

🌺 Remembrance Day at Leigh Place 🌺
Today, our Leigh Place community came together in solemn reflection to honour the courage, sacrifice, and service of all those who have served in times of war and peace.

This year’s ceremony was especially meaningful thanks to the active involvement of our residents, many of whom carry personal memories and lived experiences of wartime. Their presence and participation remind us that remembrance is not just about history—it’s about honouring real lives, real stories, and the resilience of those who endured.

We were proud to see our residents take leading roles in the commemoration:
🎤 Dr Douglas guided the ceremony with warmth and dignity as our MC
🌹 Jennifer laid the wreath on behalf of all residents, a gesture of deep respect and remembrance and read the Ode with heartfelt emotion, echoing the spirit of those we honour.
🇦🇺 Peter raised the flag to conclude the ceremony, symbolising hope and unity.
The event was a moving tribute, filled with reflection, connection, and gratitude.

We thank everyone who joined us in remembering—and especially our residents, whose stories continue to inspire us.
