Perry James Lodge - Low Care
The Perry James Low Care Unit has been named for the local resident who originally conceptualised an aged care facility for the Moree District.
The Perry James Low Care Unit caters for aged people who require minimal assistance with daily living skills. These could include taking medication, bathing, grooming or any activity that aged people may find difficult. Cleaning, laundry and ironing services are also provided.
The unit is comprised of 38 single bedrooms, most with a bathroom, that are shared by two residents, though two rooms have their own bathrooms. A double suite is also available where appropriate. Residents take their meals in a large and pleasant dining room where a menu choice is available. Morning and afternoon teas are served wherever the residents are situated at those times.
The Perry James Unit has three television/lounge rooms, a billiard room and a large activity room as well as outside gardens, verandahs and courtyards that are accessible to residents. There is also a resident laundry for those who wish to undertake their own washing.
Federation Lodge - High Care
Federation Lodge comprises modern, recently completed high care 40 bed aged care accommodation for aged people who require assistance with their daily living skills. Federation Lodge meets the needs of people who have a physical and/or cognitive impairment. Federation Lodge consists of double and single, air-conditioned rooms with shared ensuites and all rooms have an outside view of the attractive gardens that surround the facility. Cleaning, laundry and ironing are also provided.
In order to facilitate the transition from home to Fairview we encourage our residents to bring along photographs and memorabilia. Although the rooms are well-sized there is little room for furniture although a favourite comfortable chair can be included. Prior to including such items staff will assess their suitability for the resident and the environment. All laundry, cleaning and meals are supplied by our staff. Podiatry and hairdressing services are provided onsite or residents may attend outside appointments, escorted by a family member or friend.
Federation Lodge has a community dining room though residents have the choice to take meals in their rooms. There is a large communal sitting room as well as other smaller lounge areas and a very pleasant foyer in which there is a coffee/tea machine.
Federation Lodge offers a number of courtyards and outside areas for residents to enjoy.
Nan Crane Lodge - Dementia Care
The Nan Crane Lodge has been named for a well-known Moree resident who has had a long association with Fairview. The unit is a secure building that meets the special needs of cognitively impaired aged people who are able to mobilise. However, assistance is provided to all residents to aid their daily living skills that may be compromised due to their health status.
The Nan Crane Lodge is comprised of 17 air-conditioned single bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and each room has an outdoor view. Within the unit is a kitchen, large dining room, an activity room, a lounge/television room and a smaller sitting room. Services such as catering, laundry, ironing and cleaning are provided by our staff. Hairdressing and podiatry are also available for the residents and they are also able to attend outside appointments under supervision.
The residents’ leisure and lifestyle are highly valued at Fairview. A beautiful secure garden, barbeque and walking area is accessible from four separate exits. Meaningful activities are provided for the residents and these include escorted bus trips, art and craft, bowls, skittles, bingo, singing and other activities that had prior meaning for the resident. In-house, Nan Crane Lodge residents are encouraged to be involved in activities including gardening. Within the lodge we have a well-stocked baby nursery where those residents who wish to can undertake nurturing activities with dolls, baby bath, clothing and prams. Church services are conducted twice a week in Fairview’s chapel and Nan Crane Lodge residents are also taken to concerts held within Fairview.
