ADHD can look different in girls 💡
Many girls with ADHD are often misunderstood, and the signs of ADHD for girls don’t always match the more well-known ADHD symptoms.
Here are some ways ADHD may show up in girls:
✨ Girls with ADHD may experience higher levels of anxiety than boys with ADHD
✨ They may seem like “rule followers” and break fewer rules, yet still struggle internally with restlessness or impulsivity
✨ Verbal impulsivity can be common. This includes talking fast, blurting things out, or regretting what they said
✨ Impatience, difficulty waiting their turn, or boredom is often reported for girls with ADHD
✨ Some girls with ADHD complete schoolwork quickly, rushing their work and missing details or making careless mistakes
✨ Emotional intensity or dysregulation is often common. This can include frequent frustration, irritability, or 'moodiness'.
When ADHD goes unrecognised, it can affect confidence, learning, friendships, and wellbeing.
Getting the right support matters.
