It's the LAST DAY of Sugar Free September 2023.

Can you believe this???🥇

Hope you're feeling a great sense of achievement. You not only went 30 days sugar free but you helped us raise awareness and vital funds to our amazing muscular dystrophy community. What a journey!

We raised so far $145,370. And we just did this because of YOU!😍

Don't forget fundraising will be open until end of October. Let's thank all your sponsors who donated to you and pump up those final donations by sending a friendly reminder out to everyone you know.

Go 2023 legends!!!🌟

Huge thank you to all our fundraisers and donors – TOGETHER we raised so far $133,412!👏

If you haven’t fundraised yet, you still have time! The funds raised in Sugar Free September will support vital programs and services for people living with MD!💙
Check these TIPS & IDEAS to help you improve or kick off your fundraising!

✅DONATE TO YOURSELF! By donating to yourself, you show others you are committed to the challenge and that you care about the cause. People who donate to themselves raise twice as much as people who don’t.

✅ASK YOUR FRIENDS, FAMILY & WORKMATES to support you with donations. Emails, texts, social posts, phone or video calls are all great ways to tell everyone about your challenge and ask for their support. They will be keen to help you achieve your goal.

✅TELL PEOPLE WHY and WHAT inspired you to get involved. People are more likely to support you when they feel connected to your story.

✅SUPERCHARGE YOUR SOCIALS. Share, share, share! Posting on your socials is the best way to raise awareness and funds far and wide. So, make your post engaging and check our fundraising resources page on our website for socials posts and email templates.

✅CREATE INCENTIVES to encourage extra donations or to kick your fundraising page. Do a bake sale at your neighbourhood, a raffle event at your workplace and organise an online trivia game with your family and friends and charge $10 for the entry. Get creative with things!!!

✅FOLLOW UP WITH FRIENDLY REMINDERS. We all need reminding every now and then. Even if you’ve asked before, people get busy or simply forget and will be grateful for the reminder.

Banana Blueberry Muffins. Yummy!!🧁
These banana and blueberry muffins are gluten free, sugar free and flour free. They contain almond meal which is high in antioxidants and vitamin E so it’s great for reducing your risk of chronic disease.
They also contain bananas which provide potassium and fibre so they’re great for gut health and reducing hypertension or high blood pressure.
Walnuts are an excellent source of vitamins and minerals like copper, folic acid, phosphorus, and also omega 3 fatty acids and your blueberries are high in phytoflavonoids so they’re anti-inflammatory and reduce your risk of heart disease and cancer.
Last but not least they taste delicious so I recommend you give them a try!😍
Ingredients:
• 1 cup desiccated coconut
• 1 cup almond meal
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• Pinch of salt
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• 4 eggs
• 1/4 cup coconut oil, melted
• 3 ripe bananas, mashed
• 2/3 cup blueberries/raspberries
• 1/2 cup walnuts
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 180⁰C and line a muffin tray with cupcake papers or use a silicon tray.
2. Mash your banana.
3. Combine the coconut, almond meal, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon in a large bowl.
4. Beat the eggs and then add to the mixture. Add the coconut oil and mashed banana.
5. Fold through blueberries and walnuts.
3. Divide between the muffin tray and bake for 30 minutes.

Check this out! ✅ 5 tips to beat sugar cravings!🍭

1. Eat a healthy meal. When you have a craving your brain is looking for something that will release dopamine and make you feel good. If you have a craving when you’re hungry it will be hard to resist! Eat a healthy meal instead, protein rich foods will help keep you full think meat, fish, dairy, tofu, beans or lentils.

2. Go for a walk outside. Try going for a brisk walk. If you’re a runner, running would be good too. This will help you to release endorphins, the ‘feel good’ chemicals for your brain which will help to switch the craving off.

3. Avoid triggers. Such as keeping sugary snack or drinks in the house, going down the chocolate isle or walking past McDonalds.

4. Drink a glass of water. Sometimes dehydration can increase cravings so drinking water can help.

5. Read over your goals we set earlier. It can be very helpful to carry a list of the reasons you want to avoid sugar this month. ❓
