each of your fingers is made up of three bones, except for the thumb which only has two ✌🏼

Whilst each thumb has a distal and proximal phalange, the fingers also have a middle phalange which is, you guessed it, in the middle of the other two! An easy way to see these is by bending your fingers and thumbs! 🦴🖐🏼

And.. if your anything like my husband - he's trying his best to fracture all of them!

Stress fractures are usually caused by overuse or repetitive activity, and often occur when people make sudden changes, like taking up running or increasing the intensity of their workout.

The most common area for stress fractures are the bones in the foot (metatarsals) as they absorb so much repetitive force during walking and running.

Rather than a full break, a stress fracture is a small crack or severe bruising within the bone. It can still cause a great deal of pain, though, especially during activities.

Who’s experienced a stress fracture themselves?

May’s word of the month is Inflammation.

Inflammation is part of your body’s natural healing process. When you sustain an injury, the immune system sends white blood cells to defend and protect the area, which causes swelling (& inflammation).

Although it is your body’s way of helping the problem, it’s still painful!
And it’s a sign that something’s not right, so you need to get it checked out.

Noticing inflammation? Give us a call on 9982 - 6555 and let us know., or book online www.thatphysio.com.au

We may get you to come in straight away, or wait until it settles naturally – so it’s always good to check with a professional 🙌🏼

Welcome to O’Neill & Pross

O'Neill & Pross Physiotherapy has been a long term set up amongst all the chaos that is Dee Why.

Based in the heart of the Northern Beaches, Dee Why, our team of experienced Physiotherapists have worked with a good balance of elite athletes & sporting teams, along with travelling all over the country respectively.

As one of the first practices in the area, experience is definitely our strength.

Jeff has been the original owner of the business for over 35 years, and was one of (if not) the first physiotherapist in Dee Why, but has now passed the reins over to a young and vibrant Keira, to take on the next 35 years.
