A wonderful, meaningful moment at Whiddon Wee Waa with resident Robert Richardson and Lifestyle Officer Sharlene Mundy, as they teamed up to put together a brand-new birdcage. 🐦

Let’s just say… it was a challenge! After many laughs, a few “engineering” suggestions (Robert thought welding might work, while Sharlene swore by zippy ties and tape), and plenty of jokes about the budgies growing larger than emus before it was finished, the cage was still in pieces.

Thankfully, our superstar Admin, Jessica, came to the rescue and had it assembled in just 40 minutes, after Robert and Sharlene had spent over an hour with little success.

Now the cage is ready, Robert is all smiles and excited to welcome his new budgies very soon. 🧡

The European Cabaret Show was a night to remember! ✨

Our Whiddon Easton Park Residents recently enjoyed an hour-long European Cabaret Show in our very own Function Room, complete with an intermission for a delicious ice cream treat.

The talented WB Productions Group brought the stage to life with dazzling performances. This incredible troupe visits us at Glenfield three times a year, and we can’t wait for their Christmas Show in December!

We welcomed residents from all Easton Park homes, and also extended the invitation to the Whiddon Glenfield Retirement Village. It was wonderful to see so many come together to enjoy the magic of live entertainment! 💃

Whiddon’s Home Care team has been certified to ACIS 5.0 with Best Practice commendations in governance – a recognition awarded only once every three years.

Think of it as the gold star of aged care standards: it’s more than meeting compliance, it’s about setting the benchmark and leading the way in quality, safety, and governance. And this is in addition to our 100% compliance with the Aged Care Quality Standards and the NDIS Practice Standards.

Drumroll please… 🥁

This year’s Cooking Club has been nothing short of amazing, filled with mouthwatering dishes, teamwork, and plenty of moments that reminded us how food brings people together. 🧡

What makes our Cooking Club so special is the recipes that are cooked throughout the year have been shared by our residents across our care homes and added to our menus.

Our winners were judged on:
🍴 Collaboration between residents, catering & wellbeing teams
📖 Cooking at least two recipes each month from our Whiddon Cooking Club recipe book
📸 Sharing photos of the process, the dishes, and everything in between

Our Whiddon Wingham team hosted a beautiful morning tea to support the Cancer Council’s Daffodil Day, and our residents got right into the spirit of things 💛

There were plenty of smiles and laughter as we:
🎨 Coloured bright daffodils
🧶 Knitted cheerful yellow blooms
🌼 Made craft flowers
🌸 Played a fun round of flower bingo
👵 Had a few laughs with the “granny pants” tossing game!

It was a joyful day for a meaningful cause, and we’re proud to support cancer research and awareness. 💛

As the colder months come to an end and we welcome spring - our Whiddon Easton Park - Sir David Martin residents complete their final winter harvest.

Resident Charles has been keeping a close watch on the garden, especially the cauliflower. For weeks, he’s been reminding the team, that it was nearly ready to pick. So, when harvest day finally came, Charles was right there with them, proudly keeping the cauliflower on his lap as he wheeled around to show it off.

The day brought another special moment too! A resident who rarely leaves her room was gently encouraged outside by her RBC buddy, just in time to enjoy the fresh air, the scent of the garden, and the buzz of everyone picking vegetables.

Head Chef Eka then turned Charles’s prized cauliflower into a delicious lunch for all, adding a playful touch with a photo of Charles and his harvest. 🌱🥦 Fun fact: he’s also a big fan of chilies!
