OWN Newtown Wellness Centre

OWN Newtown Wellness Centre We're a friendly, diverse group of older women who share a desire to live life well. We warmly invite you to join us.

Home to the Older Women's Network Newtown Wellness Group, we offer a program of classes and activities that have been developed to enhance wellbeing. Our group is a friendly, diverse bunch of older women who share a desire to live life well. Our Centre recognises that wellness is so much more than good diet and regular exercise. In addition to physical health, our wellness model encompasses mental, social, emotional, spiritual, and environmental well-being. We believe that connection is the currency of wellness. Our program of classes and activities have been developed to build connections - with ourselves, each other, our communities and our planet. Our members bring a diverse range of skills, experiences and qualities to the group. Everyone is encouraged to contribute in ways that they can. It is the collective contributions of the individual members that create our wholeness. We warmly invite you to join us as we build wellness, friendships and community.

Come along and join us for Term 4! If you have any questions, please send us a message on Facebook.

Crafternoon at a Safe Distance ...

This is a place where we can all support each other in our creative endeavours. We can show-off the things we are making or have made and - if needed, I'll be here if you have any crafting questions or problems.
This is for everyone - not just for people who might have come to a Crafternoon. At this highly stressful time we need to help and support each other - and will we get through this together.

The photo is Larissa Bergman's wonderful embroidery - I've seen this project progressing at many of our Crafternoons and it is really lovely to see it completed. Don't you love the colours and exuberance in this?

The photo above is of some masks I made - not medical grade but better than nothing. And yes, that's me wearing one ... I've egg on my face yet again! I'm wearing one of these masks whenever I venture out to go shopping - and when I get home, the mask and all the clothes I was wearing go into the washing machine and I have shower. Can't be too careful. If you wan't to make some fabric masks yourself ... you can scroll down the page to the previous Crafternoon post - and in the "comments" there are some rough guidelines / instructions.

Crafternoon at a safe distance ...
Isolating can be a great time for us to catch up on some crafting and making. A time to get some work done on that UFO (unfinished object) or PHD (project half done). Or perhaps you want to start learning a new craft ...
Making, crafting, stitching ... they are great methods of 'mindful meditation' ... a lovely (and productive) way to keep calm at this time of high anxiety.
