Following an assessment by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA), the rules for using dimethoate on berries (blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries) were updated to increase safety margins, especially for children: 14-Day Waiting Period: Growers are now required to wait at least 14 days after spraying dimethoate before harvesting blueberries, up from the previous 1-day period. So Dimethoste still gets into the soil, killing all good bacteria in the soil- depleting all nutrients and minerals, the very things that give nutrition and flavour to our foods.
Let me break it down : Dimethoate in soil.
Once it reaches the soil -

• It can bind to soil particles
• It can be taken up by plant roots
• It can leach into groundwater if soils are sandy or if there is heavy rain
• Soil microbes slowly break down 😱😢
