Our Inner West studio members and staff visited The Patchwork Portal by Raquel Caballero at Art Gallery of New South Wales.

This was a wonderful exhibition inspired by The Patchwork Girl, a tale from the wonderful Oz universe.

Staff members Amelia Skelton and Lily Golightly were also apart of the team behind this show and were able to give a tour to the members about the show. Amelia was commissioned by the AGNSW to create the Patchwork Yellow Brick Road and Lily was commissioned to create a Guided Meditation into Oz.

Last Month, a group of our Inner West members had the opportunity of going to see Garden of Sound and The Bogong's Song as part of the Sydney Festival!

It was so much fun to check out the brand-new performance space at PHIVE in Parramatta and laugh and be inspired by some incredible dancing, catchy songs, interactive theatre and well-timed fart jokes.

Over the past month, Science and Discovery has been researching fossils and the different ways they form. Today, we decided to make our own. Since amber takes millions of years to develop, we used glycerine soap instead, which also smelt pretty good.

Members cut the soap into pieces so it could be melted in the microwave, then chose their fossils, objects they brought from home or found around the studio. The melted soap was poured over the objects and set in the freezer. The result was a series of fossilised items encased in a sweet smelling, amber like material.

This week we are proud to highlight the talent of one of our extraordinary artists, Katrina! Using a combination of coloured pencils and markers, she has been designing her own keychains inspired by cats!

This reflects her creativity, attention to detail and the joy she finds in turning everyday inspiration into art. We love seeing our artists bring their passions to life through their work!

During the holidays, our members had the chance to visit Mollies Farm in the Central Coast.

It was such a special experience getting up close with the animals. From feeding alpacas by hand to holding rabbits and learning more about life on the farm, they had an amazing time. Other activities included outdoor painting in the fresh air and spending quality time with friends.
