International Nurses Day// today we give thanks to the wonderful nurses, not only within our community, but world wide. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts for their compassion, skill, strength and commitment.

International Nurses Day is celebrated world wide on 12 May; the birth date of Florence Nightingale.

The theme for 2025 is “Our Nurses. Our Future - Caring for nurses strengthens economies” that builds on the success of the 2024 theme, “The Economic Power of Care”. The 2025 theme shifts focus to the health and wellbeing of nurses.

They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Weekend snap shot// Did you spot any of our cheerful crews with a spring in their step over the weekend? Hornsby Cadet and Adults teams of green were busy out in the field this weekend providing support and promoting St John at Berowra Public School Fair, Hornsby Shire Council Spring Festival and travelled 177km in the car from Hornsby to Berry supporting cyclists for Variety - the Children’s Charity NSW & ACT cycling event.

It’s a bustling night tonight// our teams of green are ready to assist and cheer on participants at Hornsby Relay For Life NSW at Rofe Park and listen to some tunes at Sunset Concert Series in Fagan Park.

Community Grants // We recently received the new QCPR Manikins, purchased with a community grant. These Manikins connect to a smartphone/tablet app and allows trainees to monitor the effectiveness of their CPR.

Our thanks to Julian Leeser MP for endorsing out application for the grant. On Saturday he was able to test his CPR skills, and we're glad to say he passed with flying colours!

Emergency Preparedness // Come and meet your local emergency services, this Sunday 8 September, 10.30 - 12.30, at Hornsby Mall.

Enjoy a FREE BBQ, face painting, family/children’s games, prizes and more. Have fun, meet your local emergency and community services and learn what you can do.

In the case of rain, the expo will be cancelled.
