“It’s a very amazing thing to watch her drive herself around with zero help. She goes when she wants to go and stops when she wants to. Today for the first time we took a family walk around the block and Mary did it entirely by herself.

Looking forward to more independence for this girl,” says Mary’s mum.

Keep it up, Mary, you’re doing great! 💙

X is trialing some new wheels! Power mobility could increase independence for him, it's just dependent on if/when he is able to do it safely. He seems to enjoy it!”

Xavier seems to be getting the hang of the Koala powerchair pretty well, look at him go! 🤩

What if a wheelchair wasn’t just mobility — but an expression of who you are? 😎

Think of it like your favourite sneakers or that jacket that always turns heads. Whether you’re walking or wheeling, personal style is for everyone, and it deserves to be seen. 🌟

Together with accessibility advocate and F5 Corpus user Maxwell McKnight (https://hubs.li/Q03C3W020), we explored how mobility and fashion intersect. The result? A one-of-a-kind prototype that proves self-expression has no limits.

Our Story

It all started 50 years ago when Per Uddén, a Swedish doctor - driven by a tremendous passion to find new solutions to the problems he encountered in his work as a doctor- teamed up with engineer Bert Engman and together they built the first power wheelchair. Have they had any skills or experience in constructing electric vehicles? Not at all, however, with the help of telephone lessons in mechanics, electronics and endless creativity, they wrote the first chapter in the saga of Permobil. The creativity, curiosity and humanitarian outlook that characterized Per Uddén and his work created the foundation that Permobil rests on today in more than 30 countries of the world. It took a few years to bring the chairs along with the skills and knowledge to Australia, but with the foundation of Permobil Australia 2010, a very exciting journey has began. Fast forward a few years and today we are very excited and proud to be the supplier of many innovative, world class products: TiLite, ROHO, SmartDrive, Comfort Company, FreeWheel, BodyPoint- just to name a few- that help improve the quality of life of thousands of Australians.
