I recently attended the 30-year reunion of my UNSW medical degree, and it was such a special afternoon. Reconnecting with old friends, sharing stories, and hearing about the many different paths our careers and lives have taken over the past three decades was fascinating and truly inspiring. Despite all the changes and the years in between, when we came together it felt as though no time had passed at all.

It was a privilege to be a part of the inaugural Shire Mental Health and Wellbeing Expo this week. More than 300 members of the public attended with presentations given by key healthcare professionals working in mental health, as well as those who have experienced mental health challenges. My presentation was about the GP’s role in mental health care.
Having open conversations about mental health is key to reducing stigma and enabling everyone to get the care they deserve.
