Protection is not preparation 💡
We keep our kids safe for 17 years.
Then one day, the rules flip and they need to budget, cook, make appointments, manage time... all without someone managing them.
Nobody taught the transition. We just assumed they'd pick it up.
They didn't. And that's not a failure, it's a gap nobody named.
The fix isn't complicated:
→ Let them start things without being asked (dozens of times, not once)
→ Give them small choices with real consequences
→ Let them get it wrong before the stakes are real
If your teenager can follow instructions but freezes when nobody gives them, that's not laziness. It's lack of practice.
What's one thing you still do for your teen that they could probably handle themselves?
