Hello, friends!! Did you know that World Mental Health Day is in three short weeks? If you follow me then you know I’m a huge advocate for normalizing mental health, especially in the workplace!
If you are in the Sydney area, this is your official SAVE THE DATE to join me for yoga at the newly finished pier at Waterman’s Cove in Barangaroo.
I will be leading a morning class, a midday meditation, and a sunset class! Space is limited due to social distancing, so be sure to stay tuned for more details.
This yoga class will be taking place on Gadigal Land, and we honor the Traditional Owners and respect the elders of past, present, and future.

What are some of the ways that you stay in the moment? I take deep breaths and count said breaths. I do short mindfulness meditations when I need to pause and reconnect.
I do this because I find that I’m often not living in the moment. I’m either thinking about the next task, or I’m thinking about something I said last week or five years ago. I’m prone to analyze situations and worry about worst-scenario outcomes.
So I try to pause! And you should, too. Because the stories that we tell ourselves over and over eventually become our reality. Take a minute to focus on your breath and really be in the moment. It will feel so good, I promise xx

The world can feel big, scary, and overwhelming sometimes. You don’t have to fix every problem. In fact, you can’t. It’s just not possible. But what you CAN do is focus on one thing each day that you want to do a little better.
My “thing” pretty much every day is that I want to be a little less anxious. Just a tiny bit! Because when I work on being less anxious, I can show up as my best self. And when I show up as my best self, I can work more collaboratively, feel inspired, and make a difference. So when I heal myself, I spread the light that heals the world.

You are allowed to have layers
And for each to be different
Than the one before.
You are allowed to change.
Your body, mind, and soul
Are not meant to be rigid.
You are allowed to feel it all
And there are no rules.
You can feel opposite emotions at the same time.
It is okay.
You are allowed. I give you permission to just be. Be yourself, no matter how complex or confusing it may feel at times. There is space for all of you.

It’s always best to practice your New Moon Manifestation on the day of the New Moon, but if life has gotten in the way, that’s okay! You can still meditate with the New Moon for up to 48 hours after it has passed, so try to get it in today if you can.
The New Moon is all about goal setting and manifestation. What parts of yourself do you love? Focus on those qualities and set your goals to align with them. The more we love ourselves, the more we heal 💕

It’s is deceptively difficult to engage Maha Bandha in more advanced yoga practices. I suppose it will become easier as my core strength increases, allowing my body to feel lighter as I engage the bandhas.
In yoga, a bandha is a body lock. It’s an area in the body that you purposely restrict the energy flow. The most common bandhas are Mula Bandha (toot lock), Uddiyana Bandha (abdominal lock), and Jaladhara Bandha (chin lock). When all three are performed together, you achieve Maha Bandha.
Start by practicing your bandhas in seated meditation (that’s where I started!) and see where they take you as your yoga practice progresses ✨

New pose alert! A year ago I wouldn’t have attempted this for fear of collapsing onto my face. The key is core strength, breath, and total body awareness.

I’ve been learning so much lately. Did you know that your personality completely cements itself into you when you turn 30? It doesn’t mean that you are incapable of change, but it does make it much more difficult! Basically, our body is always working to find the path of least resistance. Whether it’s in your brain synapses or your dominant-handedness, we are creatures of habit and will almost ALWAYS do the easiest thing, whether we are aware of it or not.

Your brain does an expansive amount of growth in your 20s. It’s on par with when we are toddlers. If you’re still in your 20s and there’s something you want to learn or change, now is the time! Even if you are well past 30, it’s never too late to learn a new skill. Perhaps the quiet that’s come along with Covid will give you an opportunity to learn something new ☺️

Do you have a set of yoga blocks but aren’t sure how to use them? Or maybe you’re thinking of buying them but are hesitant because you don’t “need” blocks to do yoga.

Well, rest assured, yoga blocks and props are a necessary part of any yoga practice. They can be used to help modify poses that are too hard, they can be used to make your flow more difficult, and they can assist you in restorative poses (like the one I’m doing in this photo!)
