A flawless face in four steps is the kind of promise that usually falls apart at step two. Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics is the Californian clean beauty house that has been doing it without the fall apart since 1996, when the brand launched on the back of a single product, the Loose Mineral Foundation, designed to give post procedure skin something it could wear without irritation. Twenty nine years on, it’s still their best seller.

The Beauty Edit is $194.95, marked down 30% from RRP. Six pieces, all full or generously sized. The Loose Mineral Foundation in 17 shades. The Mini Mineral Primer, a lightweight silky formula that blurs pores and extends wear. The Mini VividLuxe Crème Blush Stick in Pink Prosecco or Mulberry, loaded with ceramides, peptides, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide. The Outrageous Lashes Mineral Lengthening Mascara. The Deluxe Flat Top Kabuki Brush. All wrapped in a n**e cosmetic bag.

For the mum who reads ingredient lists and won’t apologise for it, this is the kit. Mineral coverage, clean formula, four steps, done.

Most travel guides tell her where to go. This one reads her cards and decides for her. Lonely Planet has spent 50 years writing the books that get dog eared on every gap year, and have just released a 78 card Travel Tarot deck created with astrologer Jeff Hinshaw of Cosmic Cousins. Half the country’s travellers now want experiences over destinations. Most won’t admit it but they also want a sign. This is the sign in deck form.

Travel Tarot is $42.99. 78 cards, 78 archetypes, 78 destinations. The Sun lands her in Santorini, golden hour and whitewashed everything. The Moon drags her to the Atacama Desert in Chile, ancestral astronomy and the clearest skies on the planet. The Star books her into the Maldives, bioluminescent water and the kind of silence she pays for. The World hands her New Zealand, mountains, vineyards and a coastline that does the talking.

For the mum who has been threatening to go somewhere for three years and still hasn’t booked it. She shuffles. The deck picks. She runs out of excuses.

Nine in ten Australian hospital admissions for assault by a partner are women. Many arrive at the emergency department with what they could carry in a plastic bag, and many leave the same way. Talitha Becker and Sandy Cameron, the founders of Sydney clothing brand Betty Basics, built the Betty Cares Foundation specifically to fix that gap, providing brand new dignity restoring clothing packs to women in crisis, funded entirely through Betty Basics sales.

The Special Edition Pyjama Range is $119.95. The first Mother’s Day collection of its kind from Betty Basics, designed to turn a gift into a direct contribution. 100% of profits from every set go straight to the Betty Cares Foundation, who hand the clothing packs to frontline workers at hospitals like the Royal Adelaide, where the volunteer team leader called the impact “profound” for women experiencing medical trauma.

Mum gets a pyjama set she will actually wear. A woman walking into hospital that same week gets a pack of new clothing handed to her by a nurse. Both matter. One purchase makes both possible.

The Botanica Vaucluse is the Sydney garden restaurant doing Mother’s Day the way the rest of them think they’re doing it. Globally awarded designer Evette Moran built the room. Co-head chefs Abby James (ex Quay) and Thai Sams (ex Bentley) run the kitchen. The menu is 100% gluten free and formally audited by Coeliac Australia, which means mum, her sister, the coeliac niece and the aunt who’s recently decided gluten is the enemy can all sit at the same table without a single side eye to the waiter. Everything is cooked in olive oil. Not seed oil.

Two ways in for Sunday 10 May. Breakfast at $55 per head from 9am, toasted granola with acai, cocoa nib and berries, then a choice of avocado and halloumi stack with poached eggs and dukkah, or buttermilk pancakes with bacon and maple. Lunch at $129 per head from midday, four shared courses running Appellation oysters, Skull Island tiger prawns, koshihikari risotto, butterflied Aquna Murray cod, truffle aligot, charred greens with mojo verde, and white peach with champagne and macadamia for dessert. Wagyu with smoked marrow on the side for $68.

Mum picks breakfast or lunch. The kitchen handles the rest. Between courses she can wander through the sensory garden, watch the koi, and pretend she didn’t see the turtle.

Most Mother’s Day gifts sit on a shelf and collect dust. This one sits her in 38 degree mineral water pulled from 637 metres below the Mornington Peninsula. Two brothers built Peninsula Hot Springs in 2005 after a trip to Japan, an obsession with onsen culture and a hunch that Victoria was sitting on the same thing. Twenty years later, 50 bathing experiences, half a million visitors a year, and the benchmark everyone else is chasing.

Revitalise Bathing is $80. One mum, full access to the Bath House, towel, robe, locker. Dine and Bathe for Two is $370. Two people, geothermal bathing across both the Spa Dreaming Centre and Bath House, breakfast, lunch or dinner in the dining room. Tranquility and Dine for Two is $850. Same again with a 75 minute spa treatment each.
She doesn’t cook. She doesn’t answer the question about the other sock. She floats in hot water for a few hours and remembers she’s a person. That’s the gift.

Lisa Curry AO has been to three Olympics. Jeff Butterworth has spent decades as a clinical naturopath. Somewhere between the pool and the practice they figured out that most Australian women have been handed bad information about their own bodies, and decided to do something about it. Happy Healthy YOU is the practical result, a wellness platform built on the premise that she shouldn’t need a medical degree to understand her own hormones, sleep, energy and weight.

The Happy Healthy YOU Recipe Book is $45. Co-authored by both of them, it breaks down how the female body actually works and turns it into simple, repeatable habits. Real recipes. Real science. No fads, no 21 day resets, no $400 supplements she’ll never finish.

For the mum starting from scratch or the one who’s tried everything and wants something that holds up on a Tuesday night, this is the one. A book she’ll open, not a book she’ll shelve.

There is a version of gift giving where the entire profit margin goes somewhere that actually matters. Look Good Feel Better is the Australian charity that has been running free skincare, makeup and confidence workshops for people going through cancer treatment since 1990. The workshops are free. The products are donated. The only way the program keeps running is brands showing up and shoppers backing the cause.

The Mother’s Day Luxury Collection is the fundraiser. $125 for 13 full sized products valued at over $600. Jurlique. N**e by Nature. OPI. Vanessa Megan Skincare. Ipsum Skin. Three Warriors. Pierre Fabre. Zoë Foster Blake’s skincare line. Serums, SPF, body oil, nail polish, lip balm, the works.

Every cent of profit funds a year of free workshops for Australians going through cancer treatment. The gift and the donation arrive in the same box. Mum gets $600 worth of skincare she’d never buy herself.

The LED face mask that ran the internet for five years just got a sibling built for the neck and décolletage, the part of her she keeps catching in photos and pretending she didn’t. 229 LEDs sitting in soft silicone, shaped to cover the full neck and chest in one go.

Three wavelengths doing three jobs. Red at 633nm for collagen. Near infrared at 830nm for firmness. Deep near infrared at 1072nm, the new one, going deep enough to reach where the first Series couldn’t. Ten minutes a day, five days a week, while she’s watching TV.

Eight weeks later, neck wrinkles down 30%. Plumpness up 57%. Firmness up 12.1%. Independently tested by Eurofins with a dermatologist in the room. A course of clinic LED runs $180 a session. This runs for years.

Picture Marius Helsen on the southern coast of Vanua Levu, running a coconut plantation in the middle of nowhere, probably not thinking his granddaughter would one day put his oil into a gift box that lands on an Australian doorstep in time for Mother’s Day. And yet.

His daughter Gaëtane kept the estates going. Her daughter Andrée turned three generations of it into Pure Fiji in 1996, worked with CSIRO on a cold press method that runs on manual labour in rural villages, no electricity, and put virgin coconut oil into cosmetics before anyone else bothered. Thirty years on, still the same family, still the same press, still rural Fiji.

The Deluxe Luxury Gift Set lands at $99.95. Hydrating lotion, hand crème, body butter, exotic coconut oil and a bar of soap, all built on the house blend of cold pressed virgin coconut, dilo, sikeci and macadamia. Vitamins A, B, C and E. Omegas 3, 6, 7 and 9. One box, five products, a quiet few weeks of her smelling like a holiday you didn’t have to book.

Synergie Skin started in Terri Vinson Jones’s late thirties, surrounded by friends and fellow mums who couldn’t get straight answers about their skin. She was a biologist and cosmetic chemist who decided the only way to get a product she trusted was to make it herself. Twenty years, a Bachelor of Science, a postgraduate Diploma of Formulating Chemistry and a published book later, she is still the one in the lab.

The point of difference is simple. Every formula is peer reviewed, evidence based and built from scratch by the founder. No outsourced chemists. No borrowed formulas. The woman whose name is on the front is the one who made it.

The Future Skin Trio puts three of her most results driven formulas in one box. The AlgiZome cleanser deep cleans without stripping the skin barrier. The SuperSerum+ targets pigmentation, fine lines and uneven texture with concentrated actives.

The ReClaim moisturiser locks everything in and works while she sleeps. Women report visibly clearer, firmer skin within weeks and the kind of glow that gets people asking what changed. All three for $275, down from $369 retail. A $94 saving on the brand she would have picked herself.

21/04/2026

There are activewear brands built in a boardroom and there are activewear brands built around a person. Jack Austin watched his mother Deborah carry a household with both strength and femininity her entire life and decided the industry owed her something better. He named Canary B Active in her honour.

Deborah was intelligent, graceful and unbreakable, and every piece carries that energy. The canary was chosen deliberately. Small but mighty. Stronger than anyone expects.

Every cut is made for the version of motherhood that happens in all three places:

At home, where the load never really stops.

Out in the world, where she still has to show up and look the part. And actually training, because she earns that hour for herself.

The school run, the reformer class, the Saturday morning walk that turns into a sprint, the coffee that goes cold twice before she drinks it.

The Samantha Bralette, Bike Shorts, Natalie Leggings and Caterina Set are all waiting in the guide. Use code MUM at checkout for 20% off your order.
