Mel Schilling sat with strangers on MAFS at their most broken and helped them find their way back to each other. She did it for twelve years. She did it through surgery, through chemotherapy, through the kind of fear most of us will never have to face. She showed up - every single time - with warmth, with wisdom, and with an honesty that made you feel like she was talking directly to you. Because she was.
This week she shared the hardest news. Her cancer has spread to her brain. Her doctors have told her there is nothing more they can do. And in the middle of all of that, in the middle of her own devastating reality, she turned to face us and asked one thing. If something does not feel right, please get it checked out. It might just save your life.
That is who Mel Schilling is. That is the kind of human being we do not come across often enough. We are holding her, her husband Gareth, and their daughter Maddie with everything we have got. And we are honouring her ask by putting this story in front of as many people as possible, because somewhere in your feed right now, someone needs to read it.
The full story, her journey, the symptoms to never ignore, what bowel cancer screening actually looks like in Australia, and where to find integrative practitioners who can help, is live now in Breaking Wellness News inside our RESET Directories. Save it. Share it. It might be the most important thing you do today.
