I only just learnt of this local group. This is a great initiative for older men to gather together and learn cooking skills and also grow their social network.

Forest Men’s Kitchen requests your assistance.

Many older men have never had the need or desire to spend any time in the kitchen, but now in their later years have either realised that they may need to cook for themselves sometime in the future or are already in the situation where they must cook at home. Also, many blokes having left work have lost a lot of the social contact they once had while they were employed.

Forest Men’s Kitchen provides opportunities for older men to gather together and learn cooking skills and also build their support network.

In order to keep our costs to members within the reach of a bloke on the aged pension, we rely heavily on grants from our supporting organisations. However, during these strange pandemic times the likelihood of the Forest Men’s Kitchen receiving our usual grants looks less likely. Some months ago, as the president and founder of the Forest Men’s Kitchen, Peter Watson was nominated as a candidate in the Westfield Local Heros award program and that award carries a $10,000 prize with it. To help win this award and contribute $10K to the Forest Men’s Kitchen we would really welcome your vote for Peter Watson by clicking on the link below, scrolling down to his entry and pressing the “Vote Now” button under that entry.

We also urge you to also share this post with your Facebook friends and groups to ask them to cast a vote for Peter Watson.

Being unapologetically yourself is tough in a world that tells us we need to be less, deserve less. Let’s be the ‘girl on fire’ for ourselves and for each other.

Which speaks to you? I love them all but I am a true believer of ‘Everyone’s journey is different.’

People have been commenting on Adele's weight loss: ”I congratulate her on her achievement" ... "Adele looks amazing" ... "Adele is even more beautiful" ... "an absolute inspiration."⠀
⠀
Hello. Adele's weight loss is being discussed like it's her greatest achievement. Weight loss is not a talent. Thinness does not equate to beauty or worth. Striving for thinness isn't inspiring. ⠀
⠀
Her worth, our worth, is independent of body size. She is a brilliant writer, singer, and performer. Now that's something worth talking about. ⠀

Running out of things to do in self-isolation during the coronavirus pandemic? It's the perfect opportunity to get in the garden. The benefits of gardening go beyond providing us with food, limiting the number of trips we make to the local shops, and a whole-body movement. It is a therapeutic activity during this anxious time, it teaches us patience, anticipation, appreciation and so much more. Happy gardening!

Mirna Valerio is a great advocate for encouraging others to do the type of movement they enjoy - regardless of their size.⠀

“Who made the decision that someone in my body is not supposed to move like a runner?” she says. “I can’t control other people’s opinions or what they put up on social media, but I can control how I engage. They can’t stop me from going after my goals.” - Excerpt from 'I’m not your typical ultramarathoner: here’s what I want everyone to know about size and fitness' by Emily Abbate⠀
