Goodbye Australia 🦘❤️

Moving into another exciting chapter of my life with my family I'm saying goodbye to my beautiful Australian students. Thankyou for your support and love over the last decade. It's been a dream ☁️

I'll be turning up soon from my new home in Dubai more inspired and evolved than before.

As I prepare for a huge change with my little family and a to-do list that require multiple spread sheets I'm lead back to my trusty ritual of morning coffee and journalling.

So why journal?

Journaling is my number #1 self-care tool. I try to journal daily but that usually turns into a few days a week. The benefits I have experienced from this practice is:

- We all need help and a lending ear in times of big change. A moment to hash things out and make sense of situations. I find journalling gives me that opportunity to be my own bestie.
- It provides PERSPECTIVE. When we release our inner thoughts to the privacy of a journal it feels like you’re explaining a situation with full honesty to someone else knowing you won’t get a judgemental response. Sometimes it takes an honest and heart felt out-pour to make sense of a confronting and confusing situation
- Increases gratitude. Once we have released our burden it is easier to come back to our centre, our gratitude heart.
- Releases daily stress. Provides an outlet to those inner nags to stay balanced and a feeling of control.
- Increases creativity as you can explore emotions deeper and fully.
- Demands self reflection that allows us to see our patterns, positive and negatives
- A conscious self check-in. As mums we spend so much time checking everyone else is okay, we need the same attention.

Try it…. Easy prompts to begin with:

- How do I feel emotionally today?
- How do I feel physically today?
- Are they related?
- What is something I could do in the next 7 days to support mySelf?

A snippet on Matresence from an essay I wrote for mothers to-be that I share during our one-to-one prenatal yoga sessions.

"Where there is expansion and growth there will be a contraction, in all stages of our life. As we move forward to motherhood there will be great joy and our hearts will burst open, but we will also feel sadness and grieving. As we transform again into something brand new we say goodbye to what once was. Every moment in our lives has a beginning, a middle, and, most definitely, an ending."

When I work with pregnant students not only do we focus on how the asana can help balance and care for the physical body, but we focus on how our yoga principles can comfort us during the darker moments of pregnancy, birthing and motherhood.

Pregnancy care and planning shouldn't be focused on cute baby clothes and the newest 'hip' pram, but the big emotions that come up for us as we transform into 'Mother'. It is hard and messy and sometimes feel unbearable. And thus so important we learn about this grief we feel and begin to build a solid foundational practice to lean on.

I honestly don't know what I would have done with my yoga practice as I continue to journey through motherhood, which is why I love and am so passionate about helping women today ❣️

Prudence Yoga is about creating space and freedom in the body - learning to enjoy functional movement and gain appreciation for the skin you're in.

Classes integrate yogic philosophy, biomechanical alignment, creative sequencing and therapeutic techniques together to uplifting music, creating a fun and vibrant experience.

Come in and relax in our Zen lounge area before and after class. We want your experience at Prudence Yoga to be the moment in your day that you give yourself permission slow down and live consciously. Books, tea and coconut water are provided.

Here at Prudence Yoga we want our students to leave the class not only feeling refreshed, but with a deeper, more intrinsic understanding of their bodies, so they can begin to slowly refine and edit the story we hold in our muscles and flesh. We believe in utilising yoga as a means to restoring the body to its natural potential and expression.
