Rosemary has long been considered one of the most powerful and versatile herbs within folk magick and traditional witchcraft. For centuries it has been associated with protection, purification, memory and spiritual strength.

In many traditions, rosemary is used as a cleansing herb - burned as smoke to clear stagnant energy from a space or added to ritual baths to spiritually purify the body. It is also commonly placed near doorways or windows to guard the home and create a protective boundary.

Historically, rosemary was linked to remembrance and mental clarity. Students in ancient Greece were known to wear rosemary in their hair while studying, believing it strengthened memory and focus. Within magickal practice today, many witches still use rosemary when working on spells involving concentration, learning, and strengthening intuition.

Another interesting aspect of rosemary is that it can often substitute for many other herbs in spellwork when they are unavailable. Because of its strong protective and cleansing properties, it is frequently used as an all-purpose herb in many forms of ritual practice.

Whether added to spell jars, burned in incense blends, carried in charm bags or placed on an altar, rosemary remains one of the most respected botanical allies in the craft.

Join us for Magickal Makers on Thursday 26th March from 7pm to approximately 8.30pm for a hands on evening of practical spellcraft!

In this intimate class, Violet () will guide you through the meaning and practice of the traditional cord cutting ritual, a powerful symbolic working used to release energetic ties, emotional attachments and lingering influences that no longer serve you.

The process will be explained in a clear and grounded way so you understand not only how the ritual works, but why it has been used across many magical traditions.

Participants will create and perform their own cord cutting ritual during the session, with all tools and materials provided. This is a small group class designed to give you a deeper understanding of energetic boundaries and personal sovereignty, while learning a ritual you can continue to practice in your own spiritual work.

Back in September 2025, The Witches Society AU was contacted by the with an invitation to speak in their seminar room. At the time, the team was still exploring what they wanted to bring into that space and how they wished to introduce their world to a new audience.

From that moment, their second speaking platform was created: Magick & Ritual - Invoking Your Inner Deity, inspired by their first community ritual session RITUAL, held on August 9, 2025 with - a night centred around connection, intention and shared energy.

A few days later, another call came through. Not for one, but two festival locations. With gift packs prepared, the team stepped into the experience ready to connect.

Each morning, Violet - - Founder and lead teacher of The Witches Society AU - alongside Keah, the Society’s PR/Marketing Agent, entered the festival space with open hearts. Over the two days they connected with many beautiful industry professionals, but most importantly, with their audience - their people.

The seats quickly filled, and the rooms began to overflow. People stood along the walls to listen as stories, practices and shared experiences unfolded. Some cried, some had moments of realisation, and others simply sat quietly, eyes closed, absorbing the energy. What began as a seminar became a shared moment of awakening and connection.

For that time together, the outside world faded away. Negativity was set aside and the room simply held space - for love, vulnerability, curiosity and community.

The Witches Society AU is deeply grateful to the Mind Body Spirit Festival for the opportunity to share their work, and to every person who joined them in that space.

For a moment in time, the noise of the world quietened. The negativity stopped. And connection was chosen instead.

Tonight’s Blood Moon lunar eclipse carries intense, culminating energy. Eclipses are not gentle manifesting moons - they are revealing and closing moons. The Blood Moon amplifies themes of transformation, emotional release and karmic reset.

This is a powerful time for letting go. If something feels misaligned or overdue for closure, focus on release work - journalling, cord-cutting, symbolic burning rituals, shadow work or honest reflection. Rather than asking what you want to attract, ask what needs to end. Cleansing practices and protective rituals are also supportive, as emotions and intuition may feel heightened.

It is not an ideal night for major manifestation spells or work that tries to force outcomes, especially in love or binding magic. Eclipse energy is corrective and accelerated, which can bring unexpected results.

Keep it simple: clear, release, protect and reflect. Let the eclipse close the chapter before you begin the next.

The bee is a powerful symbol of abundance within spiritual and esoteric traditions - but not the kind of abundance that simply appears. The bee represents cultivated prosperity. Earned sweetness. Wealth created through devotion, structure, and aligned effort.

A single bee may seem small, yet together the hive produces surplus. Honey - long regarded as sacred - symbolises blessings, fertility, nourishment, and the rewards of disciplined work. Nothing in the hive is wasted. Every movement has purpose. Every role contributes to collective thriving.

Spiritually, the bee teaches that abundance is not chaos. It is organised. Intentional. Sustained. It asks us to consider where we are investing our energy and whether our daily actions support the life we are building.

In witchcraft and sacred practice, the bee can signify prosperity, creative fertility, and harmonious community. It reminds us that true wealth is often the result of consistency, collaboration, and conscious exchange.

The bee does not chase everything. It gathers with discernment. It builds with patience. And in time, it creates something sweet enough to sustain many.

The broomstick is one of the most misunderstood symbols in witchcraft.

Popular culture has reduced it to costume humour and caricature, but historically the broom — often called the besom — carries layered meaning rooted in folklore, domestic ritual, and spiritual practice.

Traditionally, the besom symbolised cleansing. Not simply physical sweeping, but energetic clearing. In many European folk traditions, a broom was used to ritually sweep a space before ceremony to remove stagnant or unwanted energy. This act was symbolic: you were not just cleaning a floor, you were preparing a threshold.

The broom is also a symbol of liminality — the crossing between worlds. In handfasting ceremonies, couples would jump the broom to mark transition into a new stage of life. The act represented stepping over a boundary, leaving one state and entering another. In magickal practice, that symbolism carries into ritual work, where the broom marks sacred space and intention.

Even the imagery of flight has deeper roots. Historical records suggest that ointments and trance practices were sometimes associated with staffs or household tools. Over time, folklore transformed those accounts into the myth of witches flying through the night sky. What was once ritual symbolism became satire.

So when we see a broomstick reduced to a costume accessory, it overlooks centuries of cultural practice, folklore, and spiritual meaning. For many practitioners, it represents preparation, protection, transition, and the honouring of sacred space.

Symbols endure because they carry memory.

Always remember that the humble broom was never just a prop.

Hades is one of the original Olympian brothers and ruler of the Underworld. Despite modern portrayals, he was never the devil or a symbol of evil. His role was order, structure, and balance - overseeing the realm of the dead and ensuring souls arrived where they were meant to go. He governed what happens after death, not death itself.

In ancient Greek belief, Hades was a necessary and respected figure. He represented the unseen foundations of life: endings, transitions, and the quiet processes that allow renewal to occur. His name is also linked to hidden wealth, reflecting the riches beneath the earth - minerals, fertile soil, and the deep resources that support growth above ground.

Spiritually, Hades is often associated with shadow work, inner truth, and transformation. His energy speaks to confronting what has been buried, sitting with discomfort, and finding power through awareness rather than avoidance. This is not about darkness for its own sake, but about understanding that healing often begins in places we’d rather not look.

Hades teaches that endings are not failures - they are thresholds. In myth and modern spiritual practice alike, he reminds us that descent can lead to clarity, and that true change comes from meeting ourselves honestly in the quiet, hidden spaces.

Crystal grids are a powerful way to focus intention, energy, and manifestation.
