Something I see very commonly in clinic … a sports podiatrist’s delight (for me… not for you 😅).
One of the earliest signs people notice is that sharp discomfort with the first few steps in the morning.
It’s often not just “tight calves.”
What’s usually happening is the plantar fascia stiffens slightly overnight,
and that first step loads it quickly, that’s where the pain comes from.
Common pattern:
• Pain with first steps out of bed
• Eases a bit as you move
• Can come back with longer walking or standing
Early on, it tends to respond well when you:
• Adjust load (don’t push through it)
• Wear supportive footwear during the day
• Gradually rebuild strength and capacity
If it lingers or keeps coming back, it’s worth getting it checked! These are much easier to manage early than when they become stubborn.
