By pausing to reflect on how thoughts and emotions affect you, you have the opportunity to reclaim control and act with the intention to achieve the best outcome. Your mind is a powerful tool; but only when you control it, not the other way around. It can become destructive if left unchecked, dictating your emotions and taking control of your life. Objectively observing your thoughts, in other words, hearing them without being overly influenced by the fact that they are your own; is key to harnessing your mind’s power. Taking back control of your thinking requires the courage to assess thoughts fairly as they arise and consciously choose to accept, modify, or reject them. Through this new approach to your thinking, you manage your mind rather than being managed by it, leading to greater emotional control and a happier life with greater personal power.
