Spring Bowen Therapy

Spring Bowen Therapy provides a number of different treatment options for both people and animals:

• Bowen therapy (safe for everyone, from babies to the elderly)
• Bowen therapy combined with Reiki
• Energy healing - chakra balancing and aura clearing
• Bowen therapy for animals

Bowen therapy involves a series of gentle moves over certain points in our muscles and tendons, which sends signals through our body via the fascia (the web-like connective tissue which joins our bones, muscles, tendons and nerves and which also encases our organs), allowing the body to move into a state of rest and restoration. Connective tissue fibres can become stuck/adhesed over time and can also thicken from inactivity or injury, resulting in a feeling of stiffness and soreness or pain. Bowen therapy helps to rehydrate these tissues, resulting in greater mobility for you - and your furry friend! Because the fascial system interacts with the musculoskeletal, vascular, nervous and lymphatic systems, Bowen therapy can help with a wide variety of conditions in both people and animals. Reiki can be combined with Bowen therapy in treatments for people, which helps address not just your physical health but also your emotional and mental wellbeing. Lastly, energy healing is offered as a way to bring you back into balance and harmony with yourself. It works by helping to rebalance a person's chakras (the energy centres of our body) and clear their aura (the energy field surrounding us), both of which can be affected by stress, negative environments and trauma. This treatment is ideal for you if you are feeling fatigued and 'out of sorts' or suffering from anxiety or depression as it can help to reduce stress and calm negative thoughts and emotions. A few years ago I went on a (very nerdy) holiday in outback QLD to check out Australia’s dinosaur fossils. This is Penny the Plesiosaur, a prehistoric marine reptile who lived largely during the Jurassic Period (back when the QLD area was part of an ocean). Penny grew to be a ripe old age - old enough to develop arthritis in her neck. Her bones were preserved when her body settled on the ocean floor, which is now the QLD desert.

I am often asked how Bowen therapy can help cats and dogs. Truth be told, animals often suffer from the same ailments we do - and that’s hardly surprising, given that we are animals too! Like Penny, they can develop stiff, arthritic joints from old age and they can also suffer from musculoskeletal injuries due to sprains and strains (for instance, from falls and slips).

If I had been around in the Jurassic Period, I would definitely have offered Penny some Bowen on her neck to help mobilise the connective tissue around the affected joints and free up her range of movement (she probably would have eaten me before the treatment had finished, but still…!) 🦕
