Dietician4u - Plant Based

Dietician4u - Plant Based I am a Sydney based dietician who is passionate about plant-based foods and educating people on heal You cannot love animals and then eat them. GO VEGAN!!!

I graduated with Bsc Med (Hons) Nutrition & Dietetics from UCT in 1997. I was not educated on the benefits of veganism while at university and I practiced what I was taught till 2014. I encouraged people to consume dairy products all day, as well as making sure they had protein at every meal. In 2014 I can across Dr McDougall, Dr MIchael Greger, Dr Garth Davis (on Facebook) as well as Freelee the

Banana girl and I was so impressed by what they had to say about the vegan lifestyle. I also got a dog last year and realised I would never eat him. I have changed the way I practice in my private practice and am trying to get my patients to eat a more Whole Food Plant Based diet. I have learnt from reading books and studies that going vegan is not only good for the animals but it can also be life saving for you, as it reduces your risk of heart disease, cancer and diabetes. the last bonus is that going vegan is good for the planet. Livestock farming and agriculture is hugely detrimental to the planet. Forests are destroyed to make land for growing food to feed animals that are then producing large amounts of greenhouses gasses. They are then tortured and murdered so we can "enjoy" eating them. MAKE THE CONNECTION!!! Resources:

I can’t take credit for making this beautiful fruit salad but I can say I absolutely loved eating it. I do love the term “nature’s candy” for fruit, it’s bright and beautiful and sweet and should most definitely be enjoyed everyday.

Some times I just jump in the green juice wagon. Don’t love celery but I did ask for pineapple which gives it a less “green” taste. View from my gorgeous office in Bondi Junction 🍏🥬🍍💚

I love Indian food. There are always plant based options that are bursting with flavour. This curry has about 7-8 different plants in it, which gives amazing variety of fibers for the gut micro biome.

Mexican night! I need some food inspiration and decided to use my leftover rice, add some Mexican flavoured beans and salsa and use it in a soft shell taco with guacamole. So excited to try this. 🌈

This is not a sponsored post. I decided to try these oats as they already contain flax and chia seeds so that saved me from adding them when I make oats. I always measure at least 1/2 cup and then add boiling water and microwave for 30 seconds. I add my usual toppings - frozen mixed berries and a banana. You could add some peanut butter for some extra protein and yumminess. Best way to start my day.

I’m back on oats after eating them everyday for about 2 years! I forgot how delicious my morning could be. I use 1/2 cup raw oats, add 1 cup water, then add cinnamon and flaxseeds. Cook for about 3-5 min. Too with frozen berries and banana.

Everytime we use words that make plant foods seem unreal and unappetizing — words such as “fake,” “mock,” “substitute,” “imitation,” “analog,” “alternative,” and “replacement — we’re saying that animal-based meat, dairy, and eggs are the barometers by which everything else should be measured and that plant foods are inferior.

I love flaxseeds. I use them in my smoothies and in baking. They have no flavor so they are easy to eat without any strange after tastes. I keep them in my fridge to keep them fresh for longer. They are a cheap and wonderful source of essential fatty acids and phytonutrients.

A single teaspoon of flaxseeds may double one’s daily production of lignans, phytonutrients that appear to play a role in both breast cancer prevention and survival. See the video “Breast Cancer Survival & Lignan Intake” at https://bit.ly/3cqtBNQ.

A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, clinical trial of flaxseeds in breast cancer patients finds flax appears to have the potential to reduce tumor growth in just a matter of weeks. See the video “Flax Seeds & Breast Cancer Survival: Clinical Evidence” at https://bit.ly/2K4UpH9.

Not only have lignans been shown to be helpful against breast cancer, but prostate cancer, too. See the video “Flax Seeds vs. Prostate Cancer” at https://bit.ly/2wUSFXO to learn more.
