Don't mind us - just having fun at a local school talking about healthy coping skills!💅

Our Clinical Lead and social work student have been visiting Year 9 students to talk about how to cope when things get tough. The key learnings of this 4-week program are adapted from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), covering things like Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness.

We're hoping to make a difference one day at a time😁🫶

We love a morning tea type of meeting 🤩

We recently met with our partner organisations and services for our quarterly consortium meeting and had a good catch up about how we’ll continue to be working together.

With 18 organisations attending, it was “jam-packed” with “fruitful” discussions 😌🍓

Thank you to everyone who came including employment services, mental health organisations, refugee supports, LGBTQIA+ supports, and more 🙌

It's Body Image and Eating Disorders Awareness Week (BIEDAW)!🙌

Eating disorders are complex mental illnesses. There is never one cause of an eating disorder and can develop due to a combination of biological, psychological and sociocultural factors.

Eating disorders are also not always related to body image – while body dissatisfaction is one of the leading risk factors in developing an eating disorder, it is important to understand other causes and risk factors that may contribute. These may include trauma, sensory senstitivies, genetics, personality traits, culture, family history, and co-occuring health conditions (e.g. diabetes).

Recovery is possible, and help is readily available.

You can reach out to your doctor for help, our headspace centre, Inside Out eClinic, or visit the Butterfly Foundation website for more information.

We recently attended a Strategic Sector Briefing on War, Displacement and Trauma with Dr. Samah Jabr.

It was an honour to hear from such a diverse group of leaders to reflect on the growing impact of systemic violence and displacement, the need for culturally safe and accessible services, and the possibilities for ethical, decolonial, and trauma-informed leadership.

Special thank you to educaidau for inviting us to be part of such an important discussion.

💜Wear It Purple Day💜

We came together to celebrate Wear It Purple Day with an event for LGBTQIA+ youth with this year's theme of “Bold Voices, Bright Futures”.

The day was a beautiful mix of empowerment and connection:

🌿 Aromatherapy sessions to relax and recharge
🎨 Arts activities that sparked creativity and expression
🧠 Wellbeing discussions
🤩 Feel-good vibes with delicious food and great company

Thank you to everyone who showed up, spoke up, and stood proud. You helped create a space that was safe, joyful, and unforgettable!

Between feeling FOMO and the limited things to do in rainy weather, putting down our phones can be even more challenging than usual.

With some tweaks to our routine, we can learn to keep a healthy balance of online and offline activities.

Things to try:
🌿spend 5 minutes of mindfulness, like looking at the rain as it falls on the ground, or listening to the birds chirp.

✍️draw something new, even if it’s something really basic - the aim isn’t to do a “perfect” drawing, it’s to do something offline.

🫶reflect on 5 things you’re grateful for before you jump back online.

headspace Bankstown can help if you want to learn skills to support your wellbeing. Reach out via the details on our page😌
