Steve has been working in the Addictions and Mental Health Field for 33 years. He currently runs Steve Stokes Counselling and Consulting. Steve specializes in Developmental Trauma Treatment and Complex PTSD and Affect Regulation and its relationship to all Addiction Treatment. Steve is a Certified S*x Addiction Therapist under the Supervision of Dr Alexandra Katehakis, and has been trained by Dr Patrick Carnes, Dr Stephanie Carnes, Dr Ken Adams, Doug Weiss, and Adrian Hickman as part of the IITAP Training Program. Steve facilitates one on one, couple and family therapy to address this issue and specialises. Steve facilitates ongoing Men’s S*x and Relationship Therapy Groups. Steve also facilitates couples through the Full Disclosure Process in conjunction with a Betrayal Trauma Specialist. Other modalities used include Emotional Focused Therapy for couples. Radical Exposure Therapy Advanced Level (Tapping Therapy), Brainspotting, and Supervision and Training in all aspects of treatment for Addictions specializing in S*x addiction Treatment and Co-occurring Addictions and Mental health with a specialty in Relapse Prevention and Developmental Trauma. Steve has expertise in working with Pia Melody's Developmental Immaturity Model for over 25 years, as well as the Shame reduction work of John Bradshaw, the Addiction tools of Dr Patrick Carnes and uses the Somatic Tools of Peter Levine and Pat Ogden. Steve also has been trained by Dr Laurie McKinnon for Radical Exposure Therapy (Tapping Therapy) and Brainspotting by Dr Roby Abeles and Dr David Grand. Steve also facilitates Yallom Process Groups trained and supervised by June Lake. Steve also facilitates Christian Men’s groups using the tools of Ted Roberts, Patrick Carnes, Doug Weiss, Stephen Arteburn, Neil T Andersons Freedom in Christ and Discipleship Counselling and Sheila Wray Gregoire. As part of his private practice has facilitated weekend retreats focusing on recovery issues, menswork, relationships and spirituality. Steve has also appeared as a guest therapist in Television (Real Talk, S*x Life Program) Radio and Print, as well as commentating on PTSD, Developmental Trauma, Addiction and Mental Health Treatment.
