** Elective Surgery Update **

We know many of you are patiently awaiting public hospital surgery dates for Weight Loss Surgery, unfortunately we don't have an update on this at the moment. We are hoping to have advice on possible changes to the restrictions sometime next month, but for now operating time is not available in the public hospital we work with - Bariatric procedures are on hold for the immediate future.

With regard to private hospitals, as previously advised we are permitted to operate at these hospitals at a rate of 75% of normal capacity (inline with Government guidelines). Again, this may change to allow for full capacity over the coming weeks or months, if that happens, earlier surgery dates may be offered to those patients with surgery dates scheduled from August onwards. As always, Heather and Bianca will be in contact with anyone affected and appreciate your ongoing patience here.

We will update you again when we have further information.

** Elective Surgery Update **

Great news for all of our patients waiting for surgery at The Mater Hospital in North Sydney and Prince Of Wales Private Hospital in Randwick.

We have been advised that surgery can restart at these hospitals this week at a 75% (reduced) capacity. This means many of you will be receiving phone calls from the team over the coming days with the offer of a new surgery date. If you have not heard from Heather or Bianca by lunchtime on Wednesday, please give us a call on 9565 5505 and we will be happy to help with details.

For all patients awaiting surgery in a public hospital, further updates on surgery restrictions have not been provided which means we are unable to re-schedule these procedures at this time. We will be in contact with you when we have further updates.

Thanks again to everyone for your understanding.

Kind regards,

Dr Joseph and The BodyFree Team

** Elective Surgery Update **

An announcement was expected earlier this week, unfortunately that didn't happen, the update came today.

The Prime Minister held a press conference this afternoon and stated restrictions on elective surgery would start to "lift at the pace that states set".

Further information is not available at this stage. We will continue to update you as details emerge, and will be in direct contact with all patients awaiting surgery when we are able to start scheduling procedures again.

Thanks for patience during this period, please stay safe and well.

Kind regards,

Dr Joseph and The BodyFree Team

** Elective Surgery and BodyFree Clinic Update **

We promised to keep you updated, here is the most recent information we have regarding elective surgery.

For the majority of cases, Bariatric Surgery is still on the restricted list. Bariatric Surgery is permissible in private hospitals only, and only if the patient meets specific criteria. We will be in contact with any patient who meets the criteria - but please understand that a high number of patients will not qualify for surgery under the current guidelines. At this stage, the private hospitals we work with have decided that Bariatric Surgery will not be performed until the Government’s May 11 review.

If your surgery was planned to occur at Concord Hospital, we have been advised that surgery cannot be rescheduled for the time being. As soon as the team hears otherwise we will be in contact with you.

We continue to look after our patients (both existing and new) by offering phone consults for all existing patients and videoconference (Zoom) consults for all new patients. Please don’t hesitate to call us on 9565 5505 or 9565 5514 or email us at info@bodyfree.com.au anytime and we will be happy to assist you.

The whole team want to thank you again for your patience and understanding as we all work through these challenging times. Stay safe and we’ll update you again soon.

Kind regards,
Dr Joseph and The BodyFree Team

** Elective Surgery Update **

Earlier today Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced changes to the restrictions surrounding elective surgery during the Covid-19 crisis.

Some procedures are now permitted to proceed. Our understanding at this stage is that there may still be some restrictions related to Bariatric Surgery - we expect to have further clarification on this within the next 24 hours.

We will update you again when we have further information. Thanks for your patience, and please stay safe and well.

Kind regards,
Dr Joseph and the BodyFree Team.

** Elective Surgery Update **

There has been reporting today that the National Cabinet will be meeting next week to discuss the possible lifting of restrictions to elective surgery. (You can read more about this by clicking the link below.)

At this stage there has been no change to the cancellation of all elective surgery. We are not able to perform Bariatric Surgery for the time being. We continue to follow the guidelines that have been put in place and also closely monitor the situation.

When we are permitted to operate again, we will be in contact with patients awaiting surgery to schedule procedures (allowing plenty of time for pre-op diets to be effectively implemented).

If you have any questions, you can reach us by email at info@bodyfree.com.au or call us.

Kind regards,
Dr Joseph and the BodyFree Team

** Coronavirus Update **

Hi All,

As many of you would have seen today the Prime Minister has issued a directive that non-urgent elective surgery is to be cancelled until further notice.

This will effect Bariatric Surgery and mean all procedures will need to be put on hold for now. We will call all affected patients as soon as possible, and in order of priority, based on surgery date. Please be patient as we work to contact everyone quickly.

If you have an urgent query, please contact us on 02 9565 5505 (leave a message if you can’t get through and we’ll reply ASAP).

We hope that you are all keeping safe and well during this difficult period and that we get to see you all in the rooms again soon.

Kind regards,
Dr Joseph and The BodyFree Team

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

Hi All,

We hope you are all keeping well.

We wanted to update you on our new processes during this unprecedented time.

We are currently in the process of contacting all patients with consultations scheduled over the coming days and weeks to advise that we will not be seeing patients at our clinic for the moment, and not sure when we will return for face to face consults at this time.

All existing patients will have their follow up appointments conducted over the phone, all new patients will have their consults conducted via teleconferencing.

In relation to surgery, all procedures currently scheduled to be performed at The Mater or Prince of Wales Private Hospitals are still expected to happen as planned. We will be in touch with affected patients if this changes.

For patients booked for surgery at Concord Hospital, at this stage scheduled procedures will still go ahead as planned. Again, we will be in direct contact with anyone affected by changes.

This situation is rapidly changing and we will do our best to keep you informed of updates as they become available. We will prioritise direct patient contact via phone and email in order of priority so please be patient with us - we will get to your messages and appointment dates as quickly as we can.

Please everyone stay safe.

Kind regards,
Dr Joseph and the BodyFree Team
