First triathlon in the books 🤝 Amazing weekend of events.

Everything was going to plan until the run where double quad cramps got the better of me. Nevertheless we learn and grow for the next.

2024 started off as planned then took an unexpected turn but i wouldn’t have it any other way.

🏋️‍♂️ Q1: Crossfit Open and Quarterfinals. Best year yet finishing 337th in OCE
💨 Q2: All steam ahead towards the Sydney Mara. Ran 2 Half Maras
🦶Q3: Persistent foot injury. Off-feet CON - swimming/cycling. Pulled out of Mara.
🏊 Q4: Why not a Triathlon and eventual Ironman in future? Bought a bike. Swam 2 Ocean Swims.

2025 is set to be a big year for the engine with everything building to Ironman 70.3 in September.

✅ First Open Water Swim - Coogee Island Challenge.

Outstanding weather and atmosphere. An interesting experience swimming in a huge group getting bumped, kicked, legs grabbed, and elbows in the face, but all the more reason to swim faster 😅

Happy to have held a pace I’d normally do for a 2k in the pool. Plenty to work on with my stroke rate and technique. We keep building 🤝

This time last year i took a step out of my comfort zone after 5 years of Physiotherapy and into uncharted waters of Medical Devices.

Overwhelming to start no doubt but with each day i am more and more assured of the value in my role helping surgeons treat their patients better.

It’s been a solid first year. I’m extremely grateful for the support of my immediate, wider, and global team on this new journey. Excited for what’s to come.

Pulling out of the Sydney Marathon 4 weeks ago with a foot injury was not in the plan. The flaws in my gait coupled with increasing mileage tipped it over the line.

‘Failures are only failures if you don’t try again. If you try again and succeed they become lessons.’ .

In this 2 month period of managing foot pain I gained more of an appreciation for off-feet conditioning - swimming + cycling. I’ve always been interested in triathlons and IronMans but the limitation of not owning a road bike held me back.

This was the perfect opportunity… After a few weeks of research, chatting to fellow bike enthusiasts, and marketplace hunting here we are. The mara will still get done eventually but meanwhile (as we’re working on my running flaws) I’m pivoting to long rides and ocean swims.

Husky Triathlon Feb 2025 here we come.
