What the research says about why parents take their kids to see a chiropractor!
A Canada-wide survey of chiropractic care of children younger than age 18 years found that, overall, musculoskeletal conditions accounted for 40% of visits, prevention 24%, headaches 7%, otitis media 5% and various other conditions 23%. Prevention accounted for a large proportion of visits for children younger than age four years, with treatment for musculoskeletal conditions increasing with age.
While many of us chiros have seen improvement in babies in a range of non-musculoskeletal conditions. This all becomes anecdotal evidence. We still need more research as a profession to support what we do.

Here are some tips to help with Pelvic Gridle pain:

Sometimes some simple changes to daily activities can make a huge impact. They include:

-Keep your knees together when getting in and out of the car to prevent overloading the pelvis.

-Sit down to put on clothes as it prevents putting all your weight on one leg and shearing the joints.

-Do not cross legs when sitting. When you sit, keep a neutral spine. You can place a small towel in the curve of your back to help this.

-Sleep with a pillow between knees and roll over carefully in bed trying to keep knees together. This will keep the pelvis in a neutral position and in turn less strain.

-Avoid prolonged postures- do not sit for too long without standing and moving, and vice versa! You will need extra rest periods in the day to offload the pelvis. Sometimes a small lie down in bed is a good idea!

Shoulder posture has an influence on neck and upper back pain. At Hands On Health we look at your whole body. May be your pelvic position in creating forward head posture. Or you might have overactive pectoralis muscles dragging your shoulders down and forward. Could the small bones wrist be restricted in movement and contributing towards your headaches. Were you even aware that wrist problems can restrict your cervical (neck) range of motion?
